should I be worried do you think? I had an early scan at 8 weeks but my midwife said I'd get a date for a scan because I wanted the downs syndrome tests that they offered me.

I have no idea who to contact about a scan, I've never had to contact anyone before even though this is my third pregnancy to reach this stage.

I sort of feel that I should know this stuff by the third time around but i really don't!

I would think you should call midwife as they set up all scans well that's how they do it here (devon)

I would contact your mw initially and ask her to chase with the hospital asap esp. As you want the downs testing.

Hopefully they can get you in quickly. There is a test for downs which can be done later but I don't really know about that.

If it gets desperate is there any way you can have it done privately?

Contact your midwife in the first instance or ring your hospital and ask for maternity ultrasound. You need a scan by 13+4 I think to do nuchal translucency. If you do miss that window they may offer you the quadruple blood test instead.

thank you for the replies, I'll give my midwife a ring in the morning and see if she can chase it up for me. It's nearly 3 weeks since iI saw the midwife and I'm sure I've had dates more quickly in my last two pregnancies.

Ring you mw, there could be a chance the letter went missing in the post. Contact her asap as the nt has to be done by 13ish weeks. I got my letter 2 weeks before my scan.

Just a quick note to say I had my NT test at 14+0 - think where I am the cut off is 14+1; just so you don't panic if you don't get an appt in the next few days...

I saw my midwife last Tue (11 weeks)and got appointment letter yesterday for Friday coming.
Midwife said it had to be done by 13+6, maybe your appointment letters gone missing in the post.

I had my scan with dd at 13+6, they rang me a few days before as they didn't think the letter would reach me in time. There's no harm in chasing it up hun!

Try not panic if they cant get you in in time, my baby refused to perform for 12 week scan so they had to do the quad blood test instead which is done later, 14 weeks plus I believe and as far as I'm aware my results aren't any more or less reliable than those that had the nt measurement in the scan x

I can't get in touch with my midwife so I'm not sure what I'm going to do now

I've rung lots of times yesterday and today and I've left messages but no one has rung me back.

I can't afford to pay for a scan so I guess I've missed the window and will probably now have to wait until 20 weeks for a scan. I had an early scan due to repeat miscarriages so I guess its not too bad but I still feel rather let down by my midwife
