So I just found out in preg 2 weeks ago, was a lovley supprised and we are happy. Only told family and very close friends. Some how a neighbour has found out and told some on my other friends and people in the village. I'm only 6w4d and wanted it to be quiet for a while as little sis (12 yrs) does not no as she is too young to understand. I would like to see MW first and make site everything ok if I MC I would be devistated if I had to tell people what had happened-Neighbour thinks she has done nothing rong and will not let me no who told her i am raging.. Any 1 els agree or am I being very hormonal!!

She is mightly out of line and I would be severely pissed off. Even if she was told what gave her the thought that it is appropriate to tell anyone else. Some people..tsk .....grrrr

It's too late now but the best thing to do is tell no one if you don't want people knowing.

At 12 your sister is old enough to understand and now the cat is out of the bag you must tell her. That is the only way to control the message and explain that it is very early days and that there's a 1:4 chance of a miscarriage but hopefully everything will be fine.

We only told people we were pregnant that we would tell if there was a miscarriage. Those people were sworn to secrecy and they were not people living nearby so if they did gossip to the neighbours or their friends it was not going to be my job to explain about a miscarriage.

Why do you think 12 is too young to understand? Confused. My dd understood she was going to be a sister when she was 3, and she understands that there's another baby in my belly, and she's 5 now!

As for the neighbour, it's not really her fault is it? One of your friends or family has obviously told her. You should have waited a bit longer before telling the wider family and friends.

GoodbyePorkPie · 07/06/2013 13:44

It's not your neighbour's fault, the person who told her probably didn't tell her it was a secret - and why would she think it was a secret anyway?

Only think my sis is too young to understand miscarriage, only close family were told do not no how it came out obviously no 1 kept their mouth shut. Every 1 has an opinion but I am still furious as I don't no the neighbour as she nearly knows me but still felt the need to ask around if people had heard anything..cheffie100 we think alike then

The one who told your neighbour or maybe your neighbour overheard a conversation you had with someone about your pregnancy or something.

Bit if someone told her then this person was wrong. Although why doesn't she want to tell you who told her?
How did she found out?

Then she totally went out of line with telling everyone else! I don't have a good relationship with my mum. But felt I had to let her know I was pregnant. I also let her know to keep it quiet.
But she didn't.

I called my other family members in Holland and some of them were. We already know your mum did tell us.

I sooo understand how you feel about this. It made my blood boil too. For me it's not only what if I've a miscarriage. But if you tell people and they hear you're pregnant they're so wonderful and happy and surprised by the good news.

I just love that moment. That moment is now being taken away from me, because my mum has spread to news before me. And I did tell her not to do that.

That you're furious isn't hormonal it's normal!!!!
You've trusted some private information to others and one of these others didn't respect your wish of keeping it quite.

I'm now barely telling anything to my mother. She doesn't even know it's going to be a boy, that he's healthy. Nothing.
When he's born she's going to be the last one to hear it from me.

I don't know what to do with your neighbour. Maybe give the people who you first told that you're pregnant a call and ask them if they did tell your neighbour.
