How often does your baby get hiccups

Am 37 weeks now and noticing them every single day - remember being the same with DD towards the end.
Is this the same for most people?
I read somewhere hiccuping too frequently can be a warning sign for something - but no idea what counts as too frequent..

DD did it a lot and was quite a hiccupy baby when she was born.
I don't remember DS doing it at all.

I do remember how weird it looked when I was in the bath and DD (who is now 10) still loves me to tell her about it :)

Not sure if that helps or not.

Good luck with the next few weeks.

I'm also 37 weeks and get them at least once a day. I remember getting them with dc1 and 2 so don't think it's anything to worry about, it's the baby practising how to swallow afaik

MisselthwaiteManor · 06/06/2013 13:02

36 weeks and there's no pattern to mine, some days it's 3-4 times a day and then sometimes he/she won't hiccup for days.

MrsBri · 06/06/2013 13:02

Anywhere between 1-3 times a day. Usually after a mental moment of activity...clearly not able to multi task!

I'm 38 weeks.

smallsmith · 06/06/2013 17:21

I'm 27 weeks and have just started noting the hiccups, pretty much on a daily basis

Msbluesky32 · 06/06/2013 18:36

Our little one had hiccups loads - even in the middle of the night. Now she's here she's still hiccuping for England. Cherish those little movements - u will probably miss them in a funny way

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 06/06/2013 18:39

31 weeks and hiccups everyday sometimes up to 3 times.

Apparently it could be a warning for reflux will be monitoring with interest when he arrives.

Jollyb · 06/06/2013 18:43

Several times a day

BabyStone · 06/06/2013 18:49

my ds had hiccups normally once or twice a day (could only feel them, belly didn't move) he is the same now at nearly 3 months, no reflux.

Gerty1002 · 06/06/2013 19:04

I'm 28 weeks and noticing them daily too :)

lljkk · 06/06/2013 19:10

Varied, DS1 was the worst. Drove me batty. Many times a day.

MultipleMama · 06/06/2013 19:36

I'm only 14+2 but having scans daily, and T2 is almost always hiccuping haha.

AlohaMama · 06/06/2013 19:50

37 weeks here too and several times a day 3-5?? Never really had them much in earlier weeks. I've never heard of them being bad.

squalorvictoria · 06/06/2013 19:58

Constantly from about 24 weeks onward. 7-8 times a day (possibly more through the night). I panicked myself reading that it was indicative of cord problems, but DD was fine. Still hiccups loads at 20 months.

squalorvictoria · 06/06/2013 19:59

No reflux either!

CitrusyOne · 06/06/2013 20:01

I'd heard that it could indicate that the cord was round baby's neck- but then I went for some monitoring as I hadn't had movement very much and the midwives said that only healthy babies get hiccups. Don't know if they were just trying to reassure me but dd was born a whopping 9lb 11oz, took to breastfeeding like a duck to water and remains a chunky monkey who loves her food- she's now almost 8 months!

Oh, and she still get hiccups on a regular basis :)

CitrusyOne · 06/06/2013 20:02

Oh- and she never had reflux.

Liveinthepresent · 06/06/2013 20:41

Thanks all - sounds totally normal then - I have to say I love it - am cherishing all the movements this time - I remember missing them after DD was born .. Though obviously once the baby is here there are many more things to enjoy.
My iPad jolts up and down with each hiccup now baby is bigger!
It was the cord problems I had read about on here that made me wonder what would be excessive.

The no reflux stories are making me more hopeful, have been told by 3 people that had reflux babies about hiccups during pregnancy.

I normally get the hiccups at least once a day but haven't that much since being pregnant, think the baby is taking the hit. Grin

lljkk · 07/06/2013 08:06

DS had no reflux either.

poocatcherchampion · 07/06/2013 08:09

never in 2 pregnancies

vix206 · 07/06/2013 08:10

When I was pregnant with DS he had them at least once a day, and they would go on for ages!!! Never had any reflux problems when he was born. Or any other issues.
