Bikini or Swimsuit/Tankini

Frivolous question alert!

I live in a hot country where I spent much of the weekends in a bikini at pool or beach. (Yes, in the shade at hot times!)

I have a huge array of lovely bikinis, but it struck me that perhaps I won't want to parade around in one when I am fat as a cow. And even if I do, others might not want to look at me!

But every swimsuit I look at looks so frumpy :(

Thoughts? Can/should I front it out and keep wearing bikinis? Or should I accept I need to cover up a bit more and get involved in a costume or tankini?

In my experience people stare whether you cover up or not! So you might as well do what makes you feel more comfortable! I think people just aren't used to seeing a big belly uncovered but celebs seem to flaunt it so maybe large sunglasses and an air of 'do you know who I am?' will help?

I bought a tankini from M&S and love it - I think I will continue wearing it after I pop!

Depends entirely on how you feel as you grow - I would have been happy in a bikini from about 25 weeks when I had a definite bump rather than just a fat looking belly! However my friend who lives in a hot country got horrendous stretchmarks so said there was no way she wanted people seeing them! I don't think you can necessarily make a decision in advance :)

Hi!!!
I come from a hot country where showing your pregnant belly is a question of pride....so I guess it depends on the local population. But if people put photos with a bikini and heavily pregnant on facebook ( as my friends do from back home) then I would say....yes :)

It's a perfect time to parade around in a bikini. No worries about stomach wobbling or trying to suck the belly in. Grin

I went to Spain at 29 weeks and felt quite good in my bikini with my bump, and the sunlight on my exposed skin made baby really active which was funny watching my bump contort into weird shapes. Grin

I wore a bikini at swimming every week until the end, and was proud of my growing tummy. I moisturised my bump like mad though to avoid stretch marks and it worked, as if I had big red steaks across it, I might not be so confident x

Streaks not steaks, now that would look weird, lol x

I have a black swimsuit that has no back which I wear when at swimming baths with dc but I have a gorgeous spotted bikini which I wore when pregnant with dd on holiday.

If you're happy with bikini go with it. Pregnant and proud :) Wine

I usually don't give a crap what I look like on hols (rather overweight usually I imagine.

I'm off on hols at 29 weeks shortly and will be wearing tankini's from M&S and Seraphina (in the sale). Not tried the M&S one so fingers crossed, but the Seraphina one is lovely!
