That when you're pregnant if you find you can only think of girls names you like then you tend to have a girl and if you can only think of boys names you have a boy.

Care to confirm or deny if this was the case with you...?

I'm pregnant with a little boy and haven't come across a single name I love :(

suedehead · 04/06/2013 20:51

Hmm, interesting theory! I am all set on a girl's name, but not a boy's. Will report back in 6 months... ;-)

RobinSparkles · 04/06/2013 20:57

I can only ever think of girls names, I struggle with boys. I have two girls.

My sister, during her first pregnancy, decided on her boys name but couldn't decide on a girls. She had a boy.

In her second pregnancy she had her girls name sorted but couldn't decide on a boys name. She had ... another boy!

We couldn't choose a boys name and had lots of lovely girls names.
We had a boy

changechangechange · 04/06/2013 21:09

Had my girl name chosen ages before I even got upduffed. Decided boy name at 16 weeks. Had a boy.

beachesandbuckets · 04/06/2013 21:53

Pregnant with twin girls, 8 weeks to go and can't think of one name....

rosiedays · 04/06/2013 21:57

Was sure it was a boy. Loved the boys name we chose. SShe's a girl. Can't agree on any names now!

syl1985 · 04/06/2013 22:26

If you've one child there's a 50% change on a boy or a girl.

If you can only think of girls names then it's possible that you'll have a girl. But the change is so big that you're right that it doesn't prove the theory at all.

With my first 3 boys I felt before I know it that I was going to have a boy. With this pregnancy I totally didn't know or felt anything. I was just really hoping that he/she was healthy with the 20 week scan.

Thankfully he is as far as they can tell a very healthy baby boy.

Poppins27 · 04/06/2013 22:31

Nope sorry. I'd always scoffed at parents that didnt have a name ready for their baby, thinking your had 9 months to plan!

Pffft...fast forward to my pregnancy, a list a mile long of boys names and no girls names we could agree on at all... sure enough our Dd was nameless for 3 days whilst we failed to agree who she should be.

Haylebop12 · 04/06/2013 22:33

saundy how strange my mum says exactly the same... And guess what, we can only agree on a boys name an found out last Wednesday it is indeed a boy!

ChunkyChicken · 04/06/2013 22:37

Have one of each - both times, could only agree on nice girls names. Was a BIG surprise when DS arrived, as we felt sure he was going to be a she...

Lydia161290 · 04/06/2013 22:41

I came up with a lot of girl names before I found out I'm having a boy. I haven't found a singly name yet and due to give birth in 7 weeks!

looneytune · 04/06/2013 23:07

Always found it easier to come up with girls names - I have 2 boys and boy number 3 is due a week on Monday. REALLY struggled with boys names this time round!

beckie90 · 05/06/2013 07:16

I'm same as looneytune have 2 boys, and boy 3 on the way always could pick girls names but never boys, till there here that is x

MummaBubba123 · 05/06/2013 07:17

Not at all the case. Sadly. Lol

Teaandflapjacks · 05/06/2013 09:07

I had a girls name in my mind the minute I found out. We looked at loads of boys names (luckily DH loved the girls name I loved - I was set for a bit of a battle and even threw in a name I didn't care for which I knew he wouldn't like so much at first to pave the way in case he was then a right stick in the mud about the name I liked - devious - moi?! Grin - but really didn't need to be...). We are having a girl - and I was convinced it was a girl. But then i did have a 50% chance of being correct. PLUS I had all the old wives tales signs - shocking MS, craving constantly for oranges, left boob suddenly bigger than right (noticeably) Hmm etc!

Congrats!!

Wincher · 05/06/2013 09:14

Not true for us - we had a girl's name lined up last time right from the beginning but couldn't agree on a boy's name. We had a boy and he was nameless for the first day! This time I was convinced it was a boy all along and indeed the 20 week scan showed it was. We still liked the girl's name from last time but we still have no idea what we are going to call this one!

HazleNutt · 05/06/2013 09:14

Nope, I had tons of girl names, nothing for a boy. It's a boy.

Autumn12 · 05/06/2013 09:18

Not true for me at all. I don't really like any boys names yet I'm having a boy. We've struggled to come up with a name we both like, I do feel like we have settled on a name though just because there's nothing we love.

SilverViking · 05/06/2013 09:56

We had several girls names and no boys names for or first born..... But had to wait until our second born to use them! Smile

Locketjuice · 05/06/2013 10:01

Had a boys name picked and I'm
Having a girl and can't find a name 31 weeks in Hmm

TheSurgeonsMate · 05/06/2013 10:06

Not true. We found it easy to think of boys names but not so much girls. It is a girl. (With an ever so slightly odd name).
