Best nursing vest tops

I'm 38 weeks so starting to think about suitable nursing wear. Once my milk comes through I will be measured for 'proper' nursing bras but I thought for the first week I could just wear vest tops with support in that are suitable for feeding. I thought these would be handy while I also built up my new wardrobe.
But there are so many out there. Where is best? I've seen them in m+p, mothercare, jjmb, new look, nct do Emma Jane ones.
Would welcome any recommendations/ best to avoids....

I just wore m&s vest tops in a size bigger so that they were loose enough to pull down. I then wore a loose top on top and pushed that up.

I had the extra long Mary Jane ones so they tucked in easily. Lived in them for the 3 months I bf before going back to work. But I wouldn't fork out for them until you know you've got breast feeding sussed. You can get them on eBay from mums for whom bf didn't work out or in 24 hours from Amazon...

I used the Emma Jane ones. They have a support shelf so you don't need a bra in the early days and are quite long too - handy for pulling over your residual bump and inevitable muffin top!

I do the same as badger. I have a couple of nursing vests but none are great.

If you have a nursing bra underneath you end up with too many tight layers if that makes sense. You may find it hot now its warmer (assuming your in uk). I actually caused a blocked duct but doing this.

I used this for early days. I wouldn't bother getting measures until milk has come in for at least a couple of days. Boobs might be massive for a while. Also you probably won't want to go out for measurements in early days!

I like the Jojo Maman Bebe ones and still wear them for bed 8 months in. Nice and supportive, a bit expensive but you only need a couple. The Emma Jane ones aren't as supportive and have a weird hole thing for your boob to pop through, whereas the Jojo ones just drop the whole front down.

For the daytime I agree with PseudoBadger, just wear normal ones with stretchy spaghetti straps and pull them down - H&M ones are great, nice and long. But if you want something to wear without a bra while at home and suchlike it's definitely worth having a couple of proper nursing ones!

Got some from very and bought some cheap vests from Asda £3 each that are nice and long and massive. I fit in them now at 37 weeks and I'm not small. May put a button on the strap to make boob easily assessable.

Wow thanks for quick replies. Pseudo I'm not sure that normal vest tops would provide enough support if I'm wearing instead of bra.
Might get a couple from jjmb and rotate them for first week then I can get out for a measured bra.

I have a couple of mothercare ones with built in support which are good for wearing for bed. however they are too fiddly to wear a bra underneath because you have to undo two sets of clips when you are holding a wriggly baby who is screaming for food.

the best thing I have found is called a breast vest and goes under your boobs (worn with a bra).I wear a loose top on top, which i lift up to nurse, and the breast vest covers my flabby tummy.

I can thoroughly recommend Bravado nursing tanks. They have a built in crop top style bra and go up to a G although you can get away with a couple of cups bigger by going up a band size.

I used to work at somewhere that stocked them. In winter, people bought them to wear in bed!

They have seasonal colours as well so scout around online.

My friend but some in h&m and said they were good value for a pack of 2 so might try them too.

dont wear one instead of a bra. unless your boobs are tiny you will need support of a proper bra when theyre heavy with milk.
wear a bra and then try a long spaghetti strap vest from h&m or sonethinf that you can get for about £3 and then another normal on top. you pull the top one up and the bottom one down.
I know it sounds like layers in the summer etc but all breastfeeding tops use layers and are hotter than normal tops anyway

My vote is for a Bravado body silk nursing bra (also very comfy for late pregnancy) with cheapy vests. Small/Med/Large fits a range so great of the first couple of months until your body settles.

I got mine in John Lewis as I was desperate for a comfy bra when I was still working in late pregnancy and didn't have the patience to wait for mail-order!

Look up Breastvest. I got a black one and a white one and they were great!

I agree with adagio that bravado silk nursing bra is way to go for comfort and support while your milk comes in and your boobs settle.
Because they are sized s/m/l you dont have to be measured but they will provide plenty of gentle support.
I sent DH to buy me an emergency bra when my milk came in last time - loved it - and have just greeted it like an old friend for this time around!
You can then wear any old comfortable vest top.
Am intrigued by the breast vest am going to look at that now!

Another vote for breastvest. They are great under t-shirts and you font have to faff with clips or pulling them down as they sit under your bra.

I have bravado ones. Very supportive and lots of colour choice. My bf support group sells them but I'm sure you can get them online/ebay.

I had some from H&M when pregnant with DS 3 years ago and loved them. I still have them so plan to reuse and maybe buy some new ones.

Hiya, get at least one bravado in whatever size you are measured for now, and one other brand nursing bra. (I have three bravados, two lots of a great twin set of nursing bras john lewis do, two emma jane bras and a small variety of others). (Its not my first baby!). Honestly a nursing bra makes breastfeeding a lot easier. I don't think the vests are anything like as good. You can then get re-measured later. The bravado ones are super stretchy so very comfy.
