Hi guys! Well I found out I was pregnant two nights ago after having my implanting removed at the beginning of April. While having the implanon full term(3 yrs) I put on 4 stone totalling at 19 stone 11lbs, I have since gone down to 17 stone 10lbs on my new diet since Xmas. I noticed I was becoming very tired, emotional and my boobs hurt something awful so I thought it time to take a test. ! I also haven't had a period since coming off implanon so god knows how far along I am!
I'm absolutely terrified at being an overweight pregnant woman and want to do everything right to have a healthy baby! I have read a few websites and they have scared me with all the risks I have made myself and baby vulnerable to!
I would really like advice on what I need to do and if there any other ladies who have/are experiencing the same!
I haven't told my family yet as I want to make it a surprise when I see them with my boyfriend in a few weeks. I'm ecstatic to be pregnant! :)
Thanks and please help!

Congratulations!! Healthy eating, portion control and a steady stream of exercise is the way forward. Ask your doctor to refer you to a dietician perhaps? Or slimming world?
And congratulations on the weight loss since Xmas, that's fantastic and you should be very proud of yourself!! Well done!! Xxxx

Congratulations :o

My second child is now 12 Weeks old but I was in the exact same position as you in July last year.

When I found out I was expecting again I was 17st 10lbs at 5 Weeks pregnant and panicked about the harm I could be doing so I spoke to the midwife about healthy eating and keeping fit.

The only affect it had on my pregnancy was that scans were slightly awkward sometimes if fat was
blocking the doppler but didn't do any harm and I had to go for a blood glucose test which just involved me not eating fur 12 houra and having a blood test to check the sugar levels.
I made sure not to east for two,

Argh sorry posted too early and auto correct is bad!

I made sure not to eat fir two as you only really need an extra 300 cals (?) a day in the third trimester but the way I seen it, I was already eating that our I wouldn't have been over weight in the first place.

I just tried to eat healthier and kept walking to keep fit.

In the end I put on 2lbs and without trying I'm now 2st 3lbs lighter than I was pre-pregnancy which us huge boost, so it can be dine with just a but if thought

Congratulations! When I booked in my last pregnancy, my BMI was 39, and when I weighed myself 6 weeks post delivery I had lost 2 stone, which was great - I just tried to eat healthily and drink more water, which really helped.

This time, I am 17 weeks and have not put on anything at all yet - again, just trying to choose healthier choices, but not actively dieting, and drinking more water.

Good luck! Lots of people i know followed slimming world - supposedly it's the only "diet" recommended in pregnancy, so maybe that would be worth a try?

Congrats on the pregnancy and on some impressive weight loss!

Like everyone else has said, talk to midwife and doctor and just try and keep active and becareful of portion sizes.

Good luck
