Hi all,

I'm getting closer to my due date and am getting more and more anxious. I am going to arrange a labour ward visit soon, but was wondering if anyone could share their experiences of giving birth at QEH here? Anything really, pos/neg, would really like an insight into what I can maybe expect?

Thank you x

Hi, I only know one lady personally who had her babies there. The first one was very fast and the staff seemed very uninterested and she was very out off by it and really didn't want to have her twins there. However, they were amazing when she had her twins so I think she just caught them on an off day the first time around. As a hospital I think they are brilliant and I had a very positive experience when I had kidney treatment there. I hope this helps x Jo x

hiya
I have had 2 babies there and and due dc3 in a week (eek)
1st time.aroind was hell. The labour was horrific and lasted 3 days and ended in theatre with forceps. I found out after that i had been been pushing for 3 hours but was not in fact fully dilated. Dc1 was rushed to neonatel for a couple of hours. He was ok and came baxk once i was on the ward. We spent 3 terrible nights on the post natal ward, it was like being in prison. the midwives were uninterested, unhelpful, and uncaring. By day 3 i was leaving no matter what!

Fast forward to dc2...
totally different experience! It was written on the front of my notes "TRAUMATIC 1ST BIRTH" not sure if this had any thing to do with it... but they were fab, it was much quicker, I used the pool and only stayed a night.
They were concerned his latch was not right so kept.me in to "help"

This time i am hoping for another water birth and be out the same day!!

I hope this helps!
when are you due?

I'm due at the end of July. Trying to put together a birth plan but getting a but het up about everything. I would like to be in and out as quickly as possible, but am worried that I'll be forced to stay in, and also about staffing etc.

Good luck for your dc3, hope all goes well for you :) x

Thanks! you too!
I think just be firm with your wants... if there is medical need to stay in just go home. As long as you and baby are well you will be better off at home x
