Im 38 weeks pregnant on saturday, due to previous blood clotts I am on fragmin and been monitored closely. from day 1 Doctors and midwives told me I will be taken off fragmin and induced the day I am 38 weeks ( this saturday). husband booked time off work, other children sorted with my mum so all excited to see the end and stop worrying. Only now just been told its too dangerous to be induced as had previous c-section and worried about rupture, they have known this from the start, Im so mad and confused as this seems to be going against everything I have been told before. anyone else had similar situation??

Are they suggesting a section instead so you can have a planned birth? Are you on a preventative dose of fragmin or full treatment dose?

I've had two natural labours (no induction) whilst on clexane, which is another low molecular weight heparin. The first time I was on a treatment dose, the second just once daily injections. Both times I had short labours (less than 6 hours, although 'established' labour was much less) and both times I had no bleeding or ill effects from the clexane.

I suppose the biggest risk if you went for a natural, non induced labour would be that you may be unable to have an epidural if you need an emergency section. Can you talk to them about it?

I got clots again this pregnancy whilst on a preventative dose of clexane, so am now on treatment dose again and am likely to be induced at 37 weeks as I usually go into labour between 37 and 38 weeks naturally, so it's not likely I'll get to 38 for an induction!

I hope you sort something out you're happy with.

thanks for replying, they want to try letting me vbac naturally as my 1st blood clot came after c-section and 2nd came 6 months later without cause so both me and specialist reluctant to do c-section but if I go over due a c-section would be their choice over induction. Im on 5,000 preventative dose and have been told to keep taking as hopefully will go in labour when almost out of system, if not would need general if anything did go wrong.
