Should I be worried about this?

I have been getting a stabbing pain on and off all morning, it's on my left hand side, about the same height as my belly button, kind of above my hip bone.

Should I be worried and if so what should I do?

I would try not to worry too much (easier said than done I know!) as it could be something like a UTI/stretching pain (how many weeks are you?).

However, to put your mind at rest I would phone your midwife or GP and get seen.

Hope you're ok x

I forgot to say I'm only 6+2 so haven't seen my midwife yet. I'm at work until half 8 tonight and we don't have enough staff for me to leave (I'm a nurse), otherwise I would see my gp.

Do you have a local walk in centre you could go to? Otherwise perhaps google community midwives in your
area as there is usually a team office and you can ring for advice. Hope you get sortedx

I think I will, just for peace of mind. Still can't go anywhere till my shift finishes though.

I had these at the same stage with both my pregnancies and all was well - just things stretching.

But you're right to get it checked out - just to reassure yourself.

fanjodisfunction · 30/05/2013 13:34

It sounds like ligament stretching pain, ring your doctors and see if you can speak to some one. Is it only on one side?

please ring your GP now - you need to be referred to be checked to rule out ectopic. If pain increases and becomes severeor any shoulder tip pain go straight to A&E

If you are a nurse can u not speak to a colleague or doctor where u work?
I would certainly get checked incase its eptopic. But it could just be implantation or stretching pains. I suffered terrible with these and had to have a very early scan but thankfully all was ok.
Good luck and keep us informed xx

How are you doing, OP?

Madratlady · 31/05/2013 10:18

I saw a doctor who said it was unlikely to be anything to worry about but if it didn't go away I might need an early scan.

It's not as bad this morning though.

Glad you managed to speak to someone and the pain is better this morning Smile

Hopefully it's just stretching etc. I'm 14 weeks now but had some very odd twinges/pains in the early weeks but all's fine Smile x
