Has anyone ever had a false positive?

I just took 2 tests from boots own brand (the cheapest) and they both showed up positive straight away.

My period is late but i thought this was because i took the morning after pill... Which clearly didnt work if i am lol.

There's no such thing as a false positive - congratulations, you're pregnant.

I read a few comments on the net earlier about people having false positives.ill Get another few tomorrow just to be 100%.

False positives only happen if the stick is faulty (very rare).

It's very, very unlikely that two would be wrong. But as yours might be same batch, then you could try a different brand.

they went positive immediately! As soon as id peed on it!

You're pregnant - I hope it's good news.

ShowOfHands · 28/05/2013 21:11

False positives are v v rare. You are pregnant.

I'm sorry if this is not what you wanted. Do you want to talk about it or do you have a rl friend/family member/partner to talk to?

joanna1985 · 28/05/2013 21:12

Aw yeah it is, it just wasn't planned as i have an 8 month old and i wanted to wait a while before having another one.

Iv also been pretty careful!, is it true you are more fertile after having a baby?

Hello Joanna! Has it started to sink in yet?

Are you more fertile after having a baby. Hmmmmm

Locketjuice · 30/05/2013 10:39

I have also always thought you can't get a false positive Smile

Congratulations :)

I fell pregnant when my son was 9 months and I'm due in 10 weeks, I wouldn't worry you will cope Smile

joanna1985 · 31/05/2013 21:35

Yes showofhands i was deluding myself thinking it was a false positive because i was bewildered as to when the hell i even got pregnant, immaculate conception... !

Iv come round to it now though and im really happy! Think it will b good having 2 the same age when they get older and stuff. I know it will be hard but sure well look back and laugh one day!

Ps the only time i can think i may have got pregnant was when i took the morning after pill the same day! Pfft i know a few people that have been caught out with that, im sure it doesnt bloody work!

Congratulations Joanna Flowers

I just wanted to add to the chain as there are lots of comments saying that there is no way you can get a false positive. You can get a false positive and it can be for other reasons than a faulty stick - I've had them (repeated tests at the doctors and hospital) and was absolutely not pregnant - scans and blood tests the same day proved I wasn't pregnant, never had been.

However, I agree they are v v rare and normally caused by something that should be checked out - in my case it was combination of an ovarian cyst & being on the pill mucked about with my hormones somehow... still never got to the bottom of how and it boggled the doctor for a long time afterwards too!
