Im 37 weeks pregnant and so itchy down below. It could be thrush - but I have never had it before so am just guessing.

Can I buy anything over the counter? Im not sure I can last until the doctors open on Tuesday.

Thanks.

Ring Nhs direct or your ooh doctors? Or ask the pharmacist they should know.

It could well be thrush. You can buy cream/pessaries/oral tablet over the counter in most supermarkets! Not sure what the advice is on using whilst pregnant tho!

Hi, I have had thrush with and without the discharge throughout this pregnancy (currently 41 weeks) and I have always been prescribed 7 days of pessaries and cream. You can buy these over the counter. I don't know if you can take the tablet.

The GP prescribed me 3 pesaries to use over 3 weeks...the midwife confirmed creams and pesaries were fine as they were local applications. The tablet she said was a no no as it would be internal and the effects of it absorbed by the baby.

I would still call the doctor though and ask for a swab to be taken to be on the safe side.

I've suffered with thrush for years. You can buy over the counter treatments but they'll only give you thr cream unless you have a prescription. even then you can only use a pessary, tablet is a no go.

I would say it seems unusual to have symptoms without the discharge tho as the itchiness comes second usually.

I've found bathing with bi carbonate of soda every other day has kept mine at bay since being pg, but use the cream if I think it's flaring up! I've also heard a couple of drops of tea tree oil in the bath can help.

good luck!

Not sure that was clear - if pregnant the only thing you can buy over the counter is the cream

I've had the oral tablet, pessaries and cream, all under docs advice. In fact I've had the oral tablet twice.

I had itching down below from 35 weeks, took 3 courses of treatment for thrush but when tested, it wasn't thrush so definitely go to see your GP.

What helped me toward the end of my pregnancy was one tablet a day of chlorphenamine which was prescribed by my consultant.
