Don't you dare go wandering off onto a different thread young lady - you belong on this one no matter when sproglett actually arrives

I know what you mean re: cramp = labour pain. I felt really sorry for myself last week when I had a particularly painful blood test then I reminded myself I was being a complete wuss and didn't I remember that I was hoping to do labour without the meds this time around?! Gawd, I'm going to be begging for the epidural within five minutes at this rate...

dh thinks it's completely hilarious when I suddenly leap out of bed in the middle of the night and prance around the room trying to get cramp out of my leg. I try and "accidentally" kick him on the way back in to get my revenge...

Bozza · 16/03/2004 12:36

I'm sporadic because I have access to pc while at work (Tues to Thurs until Easter) and when DH at home (its his work laptop) but at the moment I'm too knackered and uncomfortable at nights and too busy at weekends to bother. Will probably change when I finish work. Can't wait for that.

DS is quite excited about prospect of baby (surprised really because never showed any interest in them before). Of course, the reality may be somewhat different. But I think Daddy being at home for two weeks will be a big bonus to him.

Twiglett you can't leave - Prufrock's section date is April and she still posts on here.

prufrock · 16/03/2004 14:18

Well unless you want to throw me off as well

I am now officially on maternity leave and it's wonderful

GeorginaA · 16/03/2004 14:35

Don't you dare, prufrock!

Oooo maternity leave. Can I get leave from my 2 year old? I'll have him back in 9 months or so grin

Bozza · 16/03/2004 15:07

No we're still interested in everyone.

So wish I was on maternity leave now. Very uncomfortable at work.

spots · 16/03/2004 17:42

Hooray for everyone. Twiglett, really glad you're feeling better. I only just saw your other thread and thought 'hey, that's twiglett! she's in my class!' (like at school, I have the same feeling with all these diff. groups in the same mumsnet building) (if that makes sense) - anyway yes, hope the better applies all over.
Georgina apparently you can avoid cramp by stretching calves before going to bed. I have been doing this religiously. Could also do with some brain stretching exercises to ward off spasms of dippiness - have forgotten important items every day this last week and sit on train chanting 'three bags and a broom, three bags and a broom' rhythmically (and ideally - when I remember - to percussive pelvic floor exercises) to remind myself what I should be leaving with.

spots · 16/03/2004 17:57

blimey okay I really was a bit behind on your horrors, Twiglett... just caught your asthma thread on the back of your down thread... there is obviously a knack to this cross referencing lark that I'm only just getting. Now I am even more glad you're feeling better. Is that because the steroid stuff is working? My dh has cough in the night asthma and didn't know that's what it was for ages. The steroid stuff, despite his reservations, was rather magic. I suppose you can expect to need it less after pregnancy is over?

prufrock · 16/03/2004 18:28

spots - why exactly should you be taking three bags and a broom anywhere with you?

Georgina - shall I make you really jealous? I'm on maternity leave, and dd is still at nursery full time . I do feel a bit guilty about it - surely I should be using this as my last chance to spend some quality time alone with her before the new baby arrives. But then I think sod it. She really enjoys nursery, and I have a house move to organise, and I'm toddling of to hospital every Wednesday and I need a rest dammit.

Oh I agree with you - she'll be more settled staying at nursery anyway, I would have thought. You get lots of feet putting up time in between all the hospital visits - I know it's knackering.

Ds is currently tantruming upstairs because it's bedtime... thank god Daddy is home...!!

spots · 16/03/2004 22:04

oh i am working on a children's theatre show with lots of costumes in bags... about witches! (Left £50 worth of tops somewhere unknown today, despite my best efforts)

Spots - don't worry about the dippiness too much - its fairly normal. I remember putting lemon squash in DH's cup of tea instead of milk during my last pregnancy. Then repeated the trick with orange juice a few days later.

Prufrock you have made me jealous. Although really I agree with you that she will be more settled/stimulated at nursery. Once I finish work DS will be remaining at nursery for his 3 days a week. I think he would be quite cross if I stopped him. Thought about it for financial reasons but since I stop work at Easter and he gets nursery grant from next term won't be too bad. Just expensive over the summer....

Anyone any ideas on how to reduce back pain from sitting at my desk all day? I think probably I have to just grin and bear it. Also got half day holiday tomorrow so am half way through my working week now so not so bad.

Bozza · 17/03/2004 10:40

You and me both Twiglett. I had comments on my size from 3 people yesterday (woman in canteen at work, assistant in Asda, nursery nurse when I picked DS up). Woman in Asda actually asked if I was having twins when I told her when I was due.

GeorginaA · 17/03/2004 12:05

Bozza - have you tried one of those back roll things attached to your office chair? They're supposed to be quite good and offer good support.

Twiglett - actually I'm really enjoying having an appetite - am going to miss it when it's gone I normally have a tiny appetite so being food obsessed is a pleasant novelty at the moment!!

Bozza · 17/03/2004 12:26

Do you know where I'd get hold of one Georgina? My chair is quite good - fairly new and adjustable but its the sitting in it for 8 hours that causes the problem. Think it would be good if I had a choice of 2-3 different chairs and could rotate them through the day but all the chairs are standard unfortunately.

Twiglett - how much weight have you actually put on? Or is that too nosy a question? I've but on 37 lbs so far. But actually don't think I look too bad. Although starting to swell a bit - had to take rings off.

Not sure Bozza... the proper name for them are "lumbar rolls" (my yoga teacher sells them, not sure where else you could look!)

I've done a google search and found this (you'd want the 4" lumbar roll I think) but don't really know anything about the company I'm afraid.

Bozza · 17/03/2004 13:09

My last pg sounds similar to yours Twiglett. But only had one day of actual vomitting with morning sickness this time so have put on a lot of weight. Rings have been off a week now but have noticed feet starting to swell. Not really worried because I know I have low blood pressure. The most noticeable thing about the photos of me holding DS when he was new born was how puffy my face was.

Bozza · 17/03/2004 13:10

Thanks for the link Georgina - will check it out.

I have a friend who loves may fourth because every year she can say 'may the fourth be with you'. Even without that it sounds like an auspicious, cheery sort of a date.

I find that for backache that sitting backwards on the chair is great, but i suppose it depends on the chair.

See what you mean Spots and would do that at home. But wearing a knee-length skirt and a chair with arms might draw just a tad too much attention to me in the office. LOL I'm having enough trouble because my top keeps riding up and leaving me exposing a couple of inches of white upper abdomen.....

spots · 19/03/2004 18:12

I DId LOL at that bozza. guffaw guffaw.

Had hosp. appointment today and feel for some reason chuffed to measure exactly 33cms for 33 weeks. all going well except rampant march of varicose veins up left leg, like adidas stripes... v. miserable about this. Vanity only of course. Have been prescribed two diff. sorts of support stocking; maybe will wear one on each leg to compare like pepsi and coke.
