It's a ways off but I was wondering what's people's experiences are of giving birth either in SRH or at home in the sunderland area.

If there are any of you out there?!

Hi, not me personally (I was in the midwife led unit at the RVI)
But lots of my friends have had their children at that hospital and they have all had pretty positive experiences.

I know it's all private rooms, not a communal ward. Have you had the tour yet? Smile

I'm from Sunderland but have no DC's yet.

However, lots of friends and family have and I have only heard positive things about the maternity unit!

I gave birth to my DD at SRH in 2011. I ended up having an emc, but overall the whole experience was very positive. I'm going back in July to have DC2!

Lots of friends and family members have given birth there and had good experiences.

Don't know of any planned home births in Sunderland. When I was on an antenatal course ran by the local midwives they didn't mention it as an option. (But that was 2 years ago)

Thanks for your responses.

I haven't had the tour yet as they run on a Sunday when I'm working at the minute. Have started to toy with the idea of a home birth recently but it's my first so was wondering what people's experiences were like locally.

I had DS1 at SRH. It's almost 10 years ago, now, and the unit was shiny and new, then, but they were pretty good there (apart from the one token bitch midwife who made me cry when I was in having my BP monitored because there were people in who were really poorly and couldn't I see she was rushed off her feet).

Thanks Saundy
Hope you get some more responses on the homebirth. I don't think it seems very popular in the Northeast.
