raspberry leaf tea - how often?

I have been told to start drinking raspberry leaf tea from 36 weeks. The question is how often? What is a dose that will actually make a difference? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Put in a search for raspberry leaf tea and you will get lots of info. Some people swear by it, others have ended up with painful tightenings. As a midwife I am not convinced. I sometimes think it is more trouble than it is worth

I have read that its one cup 4 times a day. I've also read you can drink it from 34 weeks in one magasine and 37 weeks in another!

In my pregnancy and birth magazine that i was reading yesterday it says to drink 3-4 cups a day from 32 weeks onwards................no earlier!

TBH i always though it was from 36 weeks - 32 sounds a bit early to me(but what so i know )

I've been taking raspberry leaf tablets since 34 weeks. A useful alternative to the tea (which is foul!) and a stronger dose too so I'm told. Take between one and three a day for the rest of your pregnancy. All health food shops sell them.

Didn't know you could get tablets, bet they are much more bearable then the drink
I will get some as part of cunning plan

it doesnt so much bring on labour - it helps tone the uterus and make labour easier and can shorten the second stage (the pushing bit!) and can help avoid forceps delivery.

If it helps, I drank more of the raspberry tea with ds2 than ds1 - ds1 took 7 hours, ds2 took 2....although at 10 pounds 2, so I wonder if ds2 pretty much fell out due to his weight.....Can't remember how much I drank though, not lots of the stuff, thats for sure!
