sleep patterns in pregnancy?

I am getting really fed up of being exhausted at 9pm, wide awake between 2am and 4:30am and then sound asleep again in the morning when I should be getting up between 7 and 8.

Anybody else suffering not just 'insomnia' but swinging between wide awake at inappropriate times and exhausted/asleep when you should be up?

Anybody found a way of coping/curing/fixing it?

Me! I wake up at:
1am for the toilet then stay awake till 3am. Even worse when OH is on nights because I talk to him.
5am for the toilet and a bite to eat.
6.30am wide awake and up!

Wide awake and up at 6:30 sounds ok though - I am suffering like crazy from when my alarm goes off at 7am till I'm actually awake after 9... feel like i'm staggering around like a drunk!!

Me!!! I wake up at the stupidest times and I'm wide awake and then I want to sleep when I have things to do or places to be! Glad its not just me x

Me too:

13+5 with DC2

Exhausted by 8.30pm
in bed and asleep by 9pm
wide awake at 2.30am
Fall back to sleep around 4.30am
DP's alarm goes of at 5am - I stirr
Up to get ready for work at 6am and get DC1 to childminders
Dead on my feet by 10am and like that until the whole cycle starts again.

Been like this for 2 weeks. If it wasn't for make-up I'd look like the walking dead.

If this is your first, don;t ever bank on your sleep pattern being the same again for a VERY VERY long time.

I hope it gets better for you Smile

I too woke up at 2:30 am in the morning and then sleep at 4:30 am the same happens. I am 13 week pregnant.

My sleep patterns have been almost exactly as you describe badguider...rubbish when your alarm goes of at 6.45 to go to work...won't mind as much when I'm on maternity leave. Nearest thing to a fix I've tried (sometimes works) is forcing myself to stay awake until at least 11pm and that normally helps me to sleep through until it is nearly alarm time.

Stayed up till 11pm last night and slept through to 6:30am. Not bad.
Still less than I need in 24hrs but better than tossing and turning from 2-4am.

I've been like that since 9 weeks, I am now 38+5 and it's worse, but at least I'll be prepared for when I have a baby to feed in the god forsaken hourzzzzzzzz!
