does high weight gain = big baby?

I put on 2stone 11lbs with my DS and he was 8lb 8oz (born at 41 + 6).

This time I reckon I could be on for a 4stone weight gain Shock, will this contribute to my chances of having a big/huge baby or is mothers weight gain irrelevant to baby size?

(I know I stand a fair chance of a biggish baby anyway based on DS's weight and the fact second babies are often bigger, but just wondered if my big weight gain will contribute further).

TIA

Not in my case no.

With ds1 I gained 4st went 2wks over he was 6ib 8.

Ds2 I only gained a couple of pounds (around 4ib) because of all the nausea I had and he was born at 40wks weighing 9ib.

So was totally irrelevant to me :) x
