Bod - you should, you were right!! :)

I love the bugaboo chameleon. However, it is just a bit too pricey for us! We found very similar in the uppababy vista, for less of the cost. Might be worth checking out if cost is an issue - otherwise just go for it. Everyone should have a pram they love :)

BumpKitty · 15/06/2013 22:06

yeah bod go for it :) was it you that had to sell your car? If so you deserve it! Also, I got a heavy and plasticky mothercare one and i hate it, bloody thing never comes apart when i need it to.

shellsocks · 15/06/2013 22:38

Ah pink try not to worry abt purchases and enjoy them...I'm gonna order TENS etc after scan, start getting geared up myself. Its lovely your DPs are so excited Smile

bod your just like me, make my mind up early but spend ages still looking...luckily it's not always the most expensive thing!

Re prams...we got given a brand new full on travel system with car seat etc, by a friend (very lucky!) and it's fab BUT I'm soooo glad we didn't spend £1k on it, unless you walk a lot it's a pain in the arse getting it in and out the car setting if up etc (was better with car seat) and we use his trike all the time now. Gonna sell it (with friends blessing) and buy an easy fold double for when new baby comes...I would recommend an umbrella fold that can be used from birth if you are in and out the car a lot, save yourself the money Smile Tho no one could have convinced me before DS was here Grin

Just did the hand on the tummy thing with DH and he felt a kick Smile

Bodicea · 15/06/2013 22:57

Ooh shel shock a tens. They scare me a bit. Are hey any good.

So been standing here looking at clexane needle for ten min. Dh away and first time I have had to inject myself. Can't work up guts. Sob

GardenWorm · 15/06/2013 23:07

Do it Bod or you'll never get to sleep tonight! Maybe use your imagination and picture some hot Adonis (Tom Jones? Smirk) doing it for you?

Pink the kicks aren't regular, think of it this way, there is no day/night for bubbas, there could be karate kid 9 going on in there whilst you're sleeping! Whilst they are wee it won't bother you...as they get bigger they will keep you awake at night!

Bodicea · 15/06/2013 23:09

Done it!

jmf294 · 15/06/2013 23:10

Bod- I have the bugaboo and loved it from the start.
I first had a silver cross which I didn't like then a Phil
And teds which was ok.
Then when I was pregnant with my daughter I decided I might as well buy the pram that I had actually wanted all along!!
You can get offers- eg 10% off mother care vouchers which help.
It's not chavvy - the Duchess of Cambridge has ordered one for her baby, it is very popular and in certain areas you will see lots of them!!
You can do the clexane- just do it quickly, 123 fire!! Then have a nice treat for being brave xx

Has everyone got a Doppler? I haven't yet as I think I would be doing it all the time.

Well I'm still worried about the lack of bump growth. 15 1/2 weeks and no bump, a big horrid roll of fat but no bump- hopes all ok in there. Can't remember when I showed last time- but I have always put in so much weight in the early days previously that I just look fat.
My sister is 3 weeks ahead and looks around 6 months pregnant!! Please bump grow!!

GardenWorm · 15/06/2013 23:11

Oh and Bod I feel the same about Tens as you do about Dopplers! Lol! Just FRICKIN painful in my opinion Grin. Try and borrow one rather than buy, I think you can rent them too, we already had one for DH's back (he doesnt use it either!). Horses for courses and all that Smile

Bodicea · 15/06/2013 23:19

Garden. I think sis in law has one. May try it. However want water birth! Not so sure they mix! But suppose if have array o options all the better.

Jmf I wouldn't worry about bump. I get loads of people coming for 20 weeks scan and can barely tell they are pregnant.

I have a bump but I really think it is mostly fat that I have put on coz of pigging out. Keeping telling strangers that I am further ahead than I am coz so embarrassed by size of it.

V proud of self for doing injection. Wasn't that bad actually. Will still make dh feel guilty for leaving me!

shellsocks · 16/06/2013 00:13

Well done bod Smile

TENS didn't do much for pain relief but gave me something to do and was a distraction for a while....will be doing it again so it obviously was worthwhile in some way Grin

LuckySocks13 · 16/06/2013 07:33

Well done bod on the needle :) needs must hey!
Fab DH feeling a kick Shell. I've not felt a thing yet!

I have to make use of My travel system from DS which is nice but more suitable for pavement walking. I do lots of country walks now and could really do with an off roader! May look into slings instead.

I used Tens machine with DS. Just had that and gas and air and self be hiring one again nearer the time. Think I got mine from tescos chemist.
Off out for lunch today to frankie and bennies for Father's Day. Dads eat main meal for free and DS will be happy to get a balloon! Then we off to visit out close friends and new baby. Bit sad as my 2nd baby I lost would be due around now just after her. But I guess then we wouldn't have been blessed with the one I'm carrying now.
DS, who was 3 in March, so big age gap when next arrived has been talking to my belly last night. Very sweet :) happy Sunday everyone. Hope you all have lovely relaxing days x

LuckySocks13 · 16/06/2013 07:44

Oh yes and when in Mothercare yesterday choosing a present for my friends new baby I bought my first non clothes pregnancy related item. Nipple cream for feeding and breast pads! Pushed the boat out there hey!!!

IBelieveInPink · 16/06/2013 09:28

Well done bod. That must be so hard to do, I wouldnt like it. Needs must though!!

Lucky - congrats on buying stuff! It's scary isn't it. But needs to be done at some point!!

To update, found heartbeat this morning. I wasn't going to look again, but I woke up and so clearly had a lump sticking out one side of my belly I figured it must be baby! Sure enough heartbeat was in there. :) baby has moved up a lot!

Bodicea · 16/06/2013 09:58

Pink pleased you found hb xxxx

Well dove lucky. gush the things you fave to buy. I haven't bought anything yet except the wool for woman at work who is knitting me a baby blanket. It is v scary. Don't know why.

Still in bed . This pg has turned me into lazy sod! Supposed should enjoy while I can!

Happy Father's Day every one. Suppose I should give my errant father a ring.

shellsocks · 16/06/2013 10:00

Happy Father's Day to all the dads and soon to be dads on this thread GrinGrinGrin

That's great pink hope you've relaxed now Smile

Well done lucky Smile I need to start looking for that coming on offer, it's so expensive!

LuckySocks13 · 16/06/2013 10:22

Yey Pink :) :)

Yes very scary buying things. I nearly bought some sleep suits then chickened out! Nipple cream if you intend to breast feed is a big must IMO! The early days until we both got the hang of it was hard! Fab stuff that cream! Didn't check the price but double checked the receipt this morning as I couldn't work out why the total came to so much! lol.

Also very lazy here Bod! Used to do Zumba twice a week but done nothing since the 2 week wait before I found out! Need to get to the swimming pool! I have 2 tankini's which I bought for my holiday but just used them to sunbathe in!

Pentagon · 16/06/2013 11:08

bod well done for doing the clexane yourself - I bet it wasn't easy; and you should definitely go for the pram you love - ignore your friend, everyone I know who has a bugaboo is highly respectable and definitely not chavvy! We have a pliko pramette just because we wanted something that folded, plus the travel system was on offer when we were looking.

ibip yay for finding the heartbeat - I can imagine the relief and elation!!

shell that's amazing! My DH hasn't tried yet, I doubt he can though - the kicks are quite muffled - I was told at the scan on Friday that my placenta is anterior high which explains why I felt DD more at this stage (my placenta was anterior low at my 20-week scan last time)

I've never used a Tens machine; I didn't bother last time and I doubt I will this time round...I wanted a water birth with DD but things went a bit wrong when I went into labour (I got a UTI apparently...I had 2 sweeps, I wonder if it's what caused it as I've never had a UTI before in my life). Let's see if I can have a water birth this time even though I tend not to think about the kind of labour I would like...I know that it hardly ever goes according to plan Hmm

lucky which one did you get? Lansinoh was the best out of everything I tried

jmf, I don't have a doppler; and there's no point getting one now that I can feel the baby -you're nearly 16 weeks so you'll probably start feeling something soon (if you haven't already)You really shouldn't worry about the lack of bump, it doesn't mean anything - so many women hardly show before 20 weeks (or even later) I'm sure yours will pop out any minute now!

Well, Happy Fathers Day to all you DHs/DPs! (whether they're dads or dads-to-be) Smile

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 16/06/2013 11:14

Happy Fathers Day everyone.

I have a Bugaboo Bee which my friend vv kindly passed on to me. It's vv light and easy to steer. But takes up a lot of room in the car.
I'd look for one on eBay rather than get a new one.

I also used a Tens machine with DS, I had it "just in case" and it was a life saver. I think it's like insurance, a good thin to have ready as you won't know until you need it and then you'll need it right away!

GaryBuseysTeeth · 16/06/2013 13:03

Hurrah IBIP!

Bod, well done for sticking yourself! And on the daily Mars Bar Icecream! commitment Grin
I've gotten through about 6 tubs of nesquik powder this pregnancy.
With you on the not buying stuff though, bought an outfit at each scan, a sling (or two) and the car seat but buying the day-to-day stuff hasn't happened yet!

jmf, hope your bump pops out soon! I didn't show with DS until around 26/28 weeks so maybe your stomach muscles are just bloody awesome?

RE.Prams, I'm not a fan of travel systems (can't see the point of spending that much!) but then we fold up our buggy in to loads of different cars/I walk pretty much everywhere (and space is limited inside our home) so a Maclaren was the best option for us.
We've got three a sling for the newborn, but when we're both out I'll have newborn in the Maclaren XT & DH will mush DS on his reins/our lighter Maclaren Volo.
Maclaren...don't think I typed it enough Grin

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dad's!

andadietcoke · 16/06/2013 16:08

All being well we're getting a Bugaboo Donkey. I'm not so keen on the tandems where one baby can't see out, and I don't need to use public transport so should be okay.

I have a dilemma... I still haven't bought a single thing, but Mamas and Papas have a sale on and the nursery soft furnishings I want are 20% off. I don't want to buy anything, but even I can recognise it would be silly not to and I've checked the returns policy and it's 365 days if anything did go wrong

I just can't get my head round actually buying stuff, and I don't want to... Hmm

IBelieveInPink · 16/06/2013 16:18

Diet - 20% off is quite a bit, but if you feel really uncomfortable just don't do it. It's not worth stressing over. However I am just trying to accept things now, and going for it with enjoying shopping! is very hard, I get an attack of guilt every time, but everything is still in bags with tags and receipts, so I feel better about this. What are the order times like with mamas an papas? Could they delay delivery for a bit?

Bodicea · 16/06/2013 17:18

Oh diet, I think you can justify a bit of a spree. Your quite far on now aren't you? and twins tend to come earlier too. Why don't you keep all the stuff at a parents/friends house. That is what I am planning on doing.

The bugaboo donkey looks fab. My mum was trying to convince me to get one in case I had a second one soon after. I told her not to get ahead of herself!

GardenWorm · 16/06/2013 18:48

Anda can you order on line and get it delivered to parents? That way you aren't really shopping, just losing money out of your bank account! I don't think now (6 months aren't you?) is too early to start seriously thinking about shopping, any of us could have early babies so if you took a month off you only have 2 to get everything sorted. When you've already got children it's not such an issue as you know you'll be able to sort it out if they appear early but do you think you would be stressed out if you didn't have everything ready? You've got to take the plunge at some point soon, maybe 20% discount is the push you need to get going?

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 16/06/2013 19:03

My friend has a Bugaboo Donkey and its fab. Just with one having the big pouch next to the seat is SOOO useful (and better on your back)
Then with two it's still easy to steer.

A work friend started her Maternity leave at 34 weeks, planning to do everything once she was off. Her son arrived on the Friday night of her last day Grin but she did say that apart from her mum having to do an emergency run round Tesco to get some clothes, nappies and toiletries (she had the Moses basket already but that was pretty much it) she managed everything after he'd arrived. So I wouldn't worry too much about getting "everything" sorted before the big arrival. Equally if you see something nice, don't feel too bad to get it.

shellsocks · 16/06/2013 20:22

Defo lucky it's the main thing I would tell my pregnant self last time....use lanisoh from the very first breast feed! I ended up using the shields ooo the toe curling pain I shudder thinking abt it now Confused

pentagon he literally sat pressing his hand on my tummy all night and only felt one!

anda you prob wont use a nursery until they are abt 6m anyway so you can even decorate it etc. once they are here...this ain't something to stress abt now....buy it, put it away and forget abt it Smile
