It's lovely being able to feel the baby move! DIY I also missed this feeling after DD was born (by the way, it looks like we will have the same age gap between children) pink don't worry, it will only get stronger and more frequent from now on. I started feeling something when I was 15 and a half weeks but I wasn't 100% sure it was the baby (it was only 2-3 times a day and very faint...some days it was barely noticeable). But I'm more confident this is the case now, it has become a lot more evident in the past week (I'm 18 and a half weeks now so since 17 and a half) - so reassuring especially after not listening to the heartbeat at my 16-week midwife appointment, which totally freaked me out.

bod 10 mile walk?!?! No wonder you were knackered afterwards!

SORRY didn't mean to post 3 times! PC jammed and I kept pressing the button as it wasn't doing anything

shellsocks · 03/06/2013 11:15

All good, found heartbeat Smile DS climbed all over me while they were looking tho which was a bit off putting Grin

Pentagon · 03/06/2013 11:34

that's great news shell! When I had mine, the midwife listened to it with her funnel-type thingy and then the doppler apparently picked it up but I couldn't hear anything which I found very upsetting! ahahaha, I can't believe DS climbed all over you, I hope the midwife didn't mind!

IBelieveInPink · 03/06/2013 12:15

Fab news shell!! Mine didn't even try to listen, she said they don't any more at 16weeks?! (I suspect the real reason was that she had lost my notes so we were running super late, grrrr.)

shellsocks · 03/06/2013 12:26

They just caveated it with we might not be able to hear but don't worry...if not we'll get you back next week and try again....I knew they'd find it tho cos I've been listening for weeks sssshhh Wink

Pentagon · 03/06/2013 12:44

pink my midwife said the same i.e. they don't listen to it anymore at 16 weeks because it's too early but she did it to reassure me - ended up having the opposite effect in the end but anyway...I can feel the baby now so very relieved! I also have an anterior placenta but I think it's quite low and that's why I can feel movements so early (had the same with DD and had to go for a scan at 35 weeks to see if it had moved up which it had thankfully)

BumpKitty · 03/06/2013 13:45

Hi all, glad you had a good appt shell, I took DD to mine and she lifted her top up for them so she could have the Doppler too!
Funny how some of them listen to the hb an others don't
Congrats on being booted in the belly ibip I really wish the movements would get more regular and definite I'm driving myself mad!
However, I do have heartburn, need to go to the loo all the time and have a massive belly so that'll have to reassure me for now!

andadietcoke · 03/06/2013 16:31

Meh. Been for my glucose tolerance test this morning. Ended up sloping off home afterwards because I felt so crappy. Hoping that doesn't mean bad news. However, surely making pg women fast for 14 hours and then drawing 3 lots of bloods could never end well?

I've also managed to boot myself into the next BMI bracket. At 26w I've put on 10kg so I guess it was inevitable but that's an extra appointment I'm not looking forward to at all...

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 03/06/2013 16:45

yay shell!! that's brill :) i had a sneaky dopple last night, found it first time i put the thingymajig on my tummy which was great!

anda don't think you need to panic about the gain - i mean you are pregnant with twins so would probably be a bit odd if you hadn't gained that much. i was looking the other day and was wondering what the normal bmi figures were during pregnancy but couldn't really find much advice. but on my app i read that a pound a week is what to aim for. please don't panic. i've put on more that i wanted so far but i've been tired and lazy and not wanting to cook. now it's getting warmer and i'm a bit more spritely, i've got my cooking head back on thank goodness so hopefully i'll be back in the 'not overweight' section soon.

andadietcoke · 03/06/2013 16:51

Thanks Janie they've been weighing me every 4 weeks and no one has said anything; think it's just because now I've gone into a higher BMI bracket. Oh well, as my mum said, at least they're keeping an eye on me. Will start watching what I eat, but I don't eat sweets/cake/biscuits at all, so will have to see what the GTT results show. I know I need to do more exercise as well...

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 03/06/2013 17:02

ah the old exercise..yes i remember that. i've been to the gym twice (in 15 weeks), was planning to go tonight but i'm just wrecked and got a stretchy baby tummy today so might go for a wee walk instead..maybe...if i don't eat too much of the curry that's cooking..but then the fall is on tonihgt...and made in chelsea. maybe tomorrow! ha!

BlackholesAndRevelations · 03/06/2013 18:26

I'm going for the GTT as my son was over 10 lb! He's now quite small for his age. I'm dreading not eating for so long!!

Great news about heartbeats at midwife appointments! I can't believe I still gave two weeks til scan, I feel so far behind most of you!

IBelieveInPink · 03/06/2013 20:13

Has anyone else had a bit of nausea come back as they get further along? I have been feeling it for the last week or so, so 15/16 weeks?

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 03/06/2013 21:08

Ooh I did it, after the exercise talk I went to the gym! And just back in time to watch the fall :)

Ibip I felt awful this morning now that you mention it, a bit dizzy too, I didn't have morning sickness as such early on, I was wondering was it just really hot this morning but could well be pg related. Hope you feel better soon xx

IBelieveInPink · 03/06/2013 21:23

No Janie - I didn't have any early on either! So weird.

Well done you on going to the gym! Putting me to shame, I've been sat on the sofa all evening :)

Mummytothearkbuilder · 03/06/2013 21:25

Hi ladies

Sad day today - this is where I leave you :-( I had some bleeding last night and the EPU saw me this morning and there has been hardly any growth since the last scan (it had grown 2mm in 10 days and the sonographer said it should grow 1mm per day).

I just trying to decide whether to have a surgical option or wait for nature to take its course. Last time it happened naturally which I would prefer but can't stand the thought of waiting for it to happen (she said it could take days or weeks) but I am quite nervous of the surgical option and it taking ages to recover or stop bleeding.

Anyhow I wish you all the very best for your pregnancies - thanks for all your support - big hugs to you all xxx

IBelieveInPink · 03/06/2013 21:34

Oh mummy. I'm so sorry. That is such sad news.
On practical terms- I had the operation, and found it to be fine. Hardly any pain, bleeding shorter than a period. Obviously up to you but wanted to share.
I'm so sorry you are going through this, will be thinking of you x

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 03/06/2013 21:40

Oh mummy I'm so sorry, really really sorry. I hope you can take time and rest and get looked after. I'm truly sorry.
Fwiw i opted for the Erpc when I mc, I didn't want to face the wait for it to happen naturally and to be honest my mum and close friend encouraged me (it sadly happened to her too in the past also). It's not as horrific as you might think, terribly sad either way though.
Sending you lots if love and a big hug Thanks xx

andadietcoke · 03/06/2013 21:46

Oh mummy I'm so sorry for your loss. It's really very unfair.

FWIW I would opt for surgical too. I found my natural mc very traumatic (I was away from home though, and passed the sac in the airport toilets). The ERPC seems 'kinder' somehow, and god knows you need some kindness shown to you at the moment. Take care of yourself. Talk a lot, and hug that DS of your's tightly xx

BumpKitty · 03/06/2013 21:46

Mummy so sorry to hear your news. Just to second ibip and janie the ERPC is not too awful (and I really didn't want one). Whatever you decide I hope you have lots of support and time to look after yourself. x

Mummytothearkbuilder · 03/06/2013 21:55

Thank you ladies - I really appreciate your comments and opinions on the surgical option. I am thinking this will be best for me - the natural miscarriage I had last time shocked me - I didn't realise it would be so graphic / traumatic - seeing what I was passing was the worst bit.

Did your cycles come back as normal?? We are going to take a break from TTC for a while - 2 miscarriages in 4 months have taken its toll on us emotionally and I want us to recover before trying again xx

IBelieveInPink · 03/06/2013 22:03

Mummy - my first cycle was longer - took 5 weeks. I know everyone varies massively on this though. Second cycle afterwards was back to normal and I got pregnant again that cycle. X

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 03/06/2013 22:05

Mummy I had really long cycles (50days) and it took 10wks for my period to come back after the Erpc, but lots of people's came back after 4-7 weeks (from memory on the TTC after mc thread). I was advised by the consultant that another benefit of the Erpc is that it does leave your womb lining pretty perfect and welcoming for a fertilised egg for when you're ready to try again so you're essentially more fertile.

Hope you get through it as best you can whichever option you decide xx
