Pregnancy

IMO The worst thing about being pregnant is.....

in the early stages, when you're tired and feel (and look IME)like shite no-one offers you any help because without a bump they just don't know you're PG.
Even people who do know don't offer.

But in the late stages when you feel good, aren't tired (well not as much), look lovely and blooming and are enjoying the pregnancy everyone treats you like you're ill.

I can remember saying to various people "Errrr I'm pregnant...not ill" or "I can actually do that myslef you know....!!??"

I want people to do all my jobs now, I can do them when I big and fat but right now the last thing I want to do it cook, clean and supervise the kids.

Rant over.

Although, I am indeed living up to my name at the moment.

The worry and sickness of the first trimester
Sciatica
Bleeding gums
Feeling perfectly happy with changing shape but DH being a bit freaked out by it...

I'm sure every second will be worth it come August.

The sickness and exhaustion of weeks 7-12 and then the pressure of the last 6 weeks growth!

It's actually been easier second time round but I'd forgotten how much you grow at the end. I'm sure it's mother-natures way of making you look forward to the birth rather than fearing the birth.

the worst thing? the birth. I'm alreay dreading it and I'm only 9ish weeks.
Other than that I am soooo tired I can barely stand up in the shower. And everyone thinks I've really put on weight.

compo · 23/05/2006 12:22

puttig on weight
people only talking to you about pregnancy and birth
not being able to eat and drink what the hell you like
the waiting (agree with others that 9 months feels like ages) and worrying
then if you go overdue people ringing all the time
just not feeling normal!!

Worst thing for me - not being able to walk down the road without needing a wee although you've only just been before you left the house! Knowing you have a whole bus journey to endure whilst still really needing a wee. Having to find the nearest loo no matter how awful it may be cause you need a wee!
May take my mates advice, wear a tenna lady and black trousers and f* it if the worst happens!
Everything else I can cope with :)
Still 11 weeks left!

The fact that, as soon as you conceive, suddenly the social niceties just don't apply any more. People seem to feel they can be as damn rude as they like and expect you to take it - and if you don't it's "just the hormones" Angry "ooh aren't you big, are you sure you aren't having twins?" "you're only how far? I would have thought you would be due any day" "Oh let me touch... yes it's definitely a boy, I can tell" "Oh I can't resist touching pregnant bumps, yes it's a girl alright, I'm never wrong" "don't you look tired? How are you going to cope when it's born"
Right the way through to when it's born and they say things like "goodness, he's all dh, I can't see a bit of you in him at all" and "he's huge what are you feeding him on"...
Heck, I could go on for hours like this you know!-

Just remembered the second worst thing - people telling you how ghastly it's going to be when it's born, how you'll never have a moment to yourself, disturbed nights for years etc.
At least this time I can say smugly 'Oh, we didn't have too much trouble with the first one.'

magnolia1 · 23/05/2006 13:31

Lol I can say we didn't have that trouble with the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th Grin

what I do quite like is that you can be as grumpy and snappy and say what you want all the time and everyone can put it down to hormones. Grin

Commuting and having people not give up their seats by burying their noses in their books. I would always give up my seat for a pregnant woman and so this just pisses me off in principle. Makes me lose faith in the common courtesy and decency of human beings.

Finally having boobs! Only it doesn't show because my stomach sticks out even further.

The way that everyone wants to share every pregnancy horror story they've ever heard doesn't help much either.
