When did midwife start measuring you?

Had my 20 week scan 5 weeks ago and the woman said well hopefully we won't be seeing you again (in nicest way poss as this means no complications) she said now when you go to midwife she will measure your belly. Had next appointment today at exactly 25 weeks but no measurements taken. I know they can be inaccurate and lead you to believe baby is huge/tiny. But it's would still be reassuring to know... Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if they were always measured if not when did you start getting measured?

I was never measured...

Clca · 15/05/2013 20:37

Hello,

I was measured at my 25 week midwife check - got my 28 week check tomorrow and assume ill get measured again then. Not sure if it varies area to area as to when you're measured?!

bellablot · 15/05/2013 20:40

First pregnancy around 25 weeks

Second pregnancy around 28 weeks and

Third pregnancy after 30 weeks and very intermittently.

AuntieStella · 15/05/2013 20:42

I think I was measured once in one PG (of 3).

OneFingerSjupesUpTheYoni · 15/05/2013 21:04

On dc3 now and i was measured at my last appt (24wks) and probably will be again at tomorrows appt (27wks)

lots with dc1 sooo many appts with your first, 2/3 times maybe with dc2 if that.

Blankiefan · 15/05/2013 21:17

I got measured today for the first time at my 16 week apt. They also took yet more blood - I swear they're vampires! When do they stop taking blood??!

LoganMummy · 15/05/2013 21:19

I got measured today for first time - I'm 37+2.

harleyd · 15/05/2013 21:22

i dont think ive ever been measured, im on my 5th

ilovepowerhoop · 15/05/2013 21:25

I was never measured - have 2 children

Stepawayfromthesweeties · 15/05/2013 21:31

I first got measured at 28 weeks, then every appointment since. It's not an exact science though & if you get a different midwife they can measure completely differently. I got referred for an emergency growth scan, turns out the midwife just doesn't know how to use a measuring tape properly & baby is completely fine

islingtongirl · 15/05/2013 21:46

I got measured for the first time at my 25 week appt. First DC.

beckie90 · 15/05/2013 21:51

Some start at 24wk check, some after, some not at all- its different with every practice really.

My midwife said at my 24wk check that they start at 28wks which mine is tomorow. Maybe be same for yours.

My gp did measure my tummy at 15wks, although many don't so early cause it can be hit and miss x

MrsMillions · 15/05/2013 21:51

My first measurement was at 28 weeks, and have been measured again today at 31.

LifeOfPee · 15/05/2013 21:55

Don't rememver with my 1st but with the last one I think it was from 28 weeks and then everytime I saw the MW.

I wouldn't worry too much though. It's not a very accurate measurement and if you're really mithered about it you can do it yourself.

Cavort · 15/05/2013 22:09

28 weeks was the first recorded measurement on my customised growth chart, but MW measured me 'off the record' at 25 weeks as I was worried about my small bump.

Gonnabmummy · 16/05/2013 10:13

My chart starts at 24 weeks so I thought my app at 25 would b measured

blankie they do take a lot I had extra taken ten days ago as wasn't feeling good. Getting them taking at 28 week app for GTT test which follower MNs have said is fab.... Not lol.

28 weeks here - GP had a feel and said 'that's about right' at 24 weeks and wrote 24 in the notes.

Frecklers · 16/05/2013 13:06

Guidelines for measurements to be plotted on growth charts are from 26 weeks..
Although your midwife may measure at 24/25.
No clinical evidence measurements before this gestation are valid.
