Hi, Last week I got a positive pregnancy test! Smile So happy and so is DH but I am not sure how far gone I am as the month before this I had some major pregnancy symptoms like lower back ache, bloating, headaches, slight cramping etc and a very strange day of bleeding (around when my AF is due) & then 4 days of brown discharge and that seemed to be implantation bleeding to me. Took about 5 tests over the following week or so and all negative. Bloating continued and this month we kept TTC as assumed I wasn't pregnant. Took a test 1 day before AF due and got a very strong positive Grin but now I have been to the doctors to tell her I am pregnant and she thinks that I could well be pregnant 10 weeks rather than 5 because of my previous symptoms and abnormal af. I went to see this doctor when I had the previous symptoms too so she has all the symptoms I thought were pregnancy before in her notes.

Basically just wondered if anyone else had got a really late positive and been pregnant for a while before it showed up on a test?

I have 2 weeks before my first midwife appointment and then will have to book a scan after that. The waiting is so annoying, just want to know how many weeks I am! Sorry for the long message!

I would see if the midwife can see you earlier - she should book you a scan earlier as you are not sure on dates as if you want NT scan done you only have up until 13 weeks I think! I think it sounds like you might be further along than 5 weeks but only a dating scan will tell!! good news if you are 10 weeks though - I would have loved to bypass the horrendous first trimester!!! Congratulations!

Thank you yes I will try and get it done sooner. Hoping I am further along actually Smile I am going on holiday too in 5 weeks so it would be good to go knowing the dates and everything is ok.

Seeing the midwife for your first appointment and having your first scan are not actually related as such. As in, you don't need to have had a booking in appointment in order to have a scan (with my first pg I had my booking appointment a couple weeks after my scan). So see if you can get an appointment for your scan as soon as possible.

surely you would be either 9 weeks or 5 weeks or 10 weeks or 6 weeks if that makes sense? unless you have 5 week cycles?

Fairy130389 · 16/05/2013 19:38

I think it depends on the area rreow - in my PCT you have to see the midwife first to get you in the system as they are the ones who refer for the scans, either way you need to get dated asap!

Yeah sorry I meant getting on to 5 weeks and then possibly 9 weeks. Now 5 weeks and 2 days OR 9 weeks and 4 days! Going mad with all the adding up. How do I book in for a scan earlier? x

Yeah I know because waiting another week and a half just for an appointment and then waiting for scan is going to quite frankly drive me mad! I have a day to day pregnancy book and keep looking at both stages but horrible not actually knowing what I am at Hmm

If you can afford to go privately around £90 there are Babybond clinics all over the country and you can usually book an appointment on the day/next day. (just suggested this to another poster - I don't work for them!!)

Fairy130389 · 18/05/2013 20:14

Do you have a phone number yet for your midwife? can you call her and say that you think you are more like 9 weeks and what would she suggest? that way she can give you the best advice.

charlottesweb87 · 05/06/2013 16:31

Thanks, yes I spoke to my midwife and she said to go by the more recent date as it is very unlikely the tests were wrong at that time. So now I am assuming 8 weeks pregnant and scan at the beginning of July! Can't wait Grin thanks for all your advice!
