How long before you had midwife contact you for the first time ??

Went to docs yesterday who was pretty miserable and didn't seem on the ball at all,filled out some forms and then he said ok, thats all..midwife will be in touch. Just wondered how long roughly before i would be contacted..i'm 5 weeks...just have this mental picture that my details are still sitting on his desk

I would imagine you've got a couple of weeks yet. If she hasn't been in touch by 8 weeks, call her.

booking-in with the midwife was around 8-10 weeks here.

8-10 weeks pg before you will get first appt

She contacted me for an appointment at 10 weeks. I got my scan date in the post.

I had to call and arrange my booking in appointment. Might be worth a quick call to the surgery to see if you can arrange a booking in appointment. They're usually at about 10 weeks.

I think it's changed a lot. My first complete pregnancy, I was booked in at around 9 weeks I think, but with my Dd 8 years later, I wasn't booked in until I was 12 weeks. I think it's to save the NHS money in case of early miscarriage, plus stretched midwives...

It totally depends on area. Ours does booking in from 9 weeks to do bloodsfor the nuchal scan, other places do the bloods at the 12 week scan and have booking in afterwards.

I phoned the doctor as soon as I found out I was pg at 4 weeks. He passed my details on and MW got in touch at 7 weeks and I saw her for booking appt at 8 weeks.

Thanx everyone, I work self employed as a beauty therapist and its a busy time of year so like to be super organised if I have to have time off for appointmnets xx

I had to call the hospital where I plan to have baby and book my booking in appointment for around 8 weeks and then from there they gave me scan dates etc x

I saw my GP around 5 weeks who said I would heard from midwife at hospital in a few weeks, got a letter a week or so later with a date for my booking in appointment at around 8 weeks and also for my 12 week scan. Im in central London so am sure different depending where you are.
