Apple Crumble

So I am and have been craving apple crumble for the last week. It's got to the point where I cried because people on come dine with me were eating it. I just made some and ended up dropping the dish on the floor where it smashed and burned my legs with hot apple.

I was so excited for that crumble I have spent the last 20 minutes alternating between swearing loudly at the bowl and it's selfishness and then crying...Pregnancy is a strange thing... Hmm

Anyone else found themselves in a similar situation?

Ah I'm so sorry u didn't get ur crumble.
I have been an emotional wreck for past few weeks to the point were I cried because we didn't have any milk!! Milk has been my only real craving! So ur not alone x

haha i'm glad it's not just me! ugh I can't stand milk at the moment, even thinking about it makes me feel queasy which is odd because I used to love the stuff!

Oh I feel for you!

I had a similar issue last week, I'd been craving caramel shortbread for AGES, it was supposed to come in my shopping delivery and I could hardly sleep with excitement. They went and substituted it for bloody flapjacks. I cried while unpacking and I cried every time I opened the cupboard and saw the flapjacks.

Abi I had an apple crumble craving that lasted about a month in the early part of the second trimester. One day we went for a pub lunch, partly because I knew they did a really good crumble. I actually nearly cried when they told me they'd sold out Blush

The next day I went to three shops on the way home from work in order to find some and was soooo happy when I got to tuck in.

I 100% feel your pain!

When I had morning sickness I could hardly stomach anything. I woke up thinking about my favourite Subway sandwich. For 2 hours I lay in bed imagining eating it. My DH came in to see how I was feeling, I told him about how I would love a Subway and how happy I was that i can actually imagine eating something without throwing up. He said he'd go out and get me one.

An hour later he called me downstairs, he'd set the dining room out nicely with a drink, flowers and pretty place mat - and on the table was a HOMEMADE Subway substitute sandwich. He thought I'd appreciate the effort. I just sobbed like a spoilt child.

I just went to three shops to try and get some and none of them had any, rang my OH in tears and he's promised to get me some from the supermarket on the way home. If he doesn't get me any i'm not sure i'll be able to take the emotional strain haha!

oh hoppus that well and truly sucks. I brought some caramel shortbread the other day and it made me feel horribly sick. Brought a pack of like 6 of them because they looked nice. Regretting it now haha!

lljkk I became dairy intolerant when I was pregnant too.

It was from being sick a lot. I had to drink that lactose milk.

Ooh how funny I was obsessed with apple crumble while I was pregnant. DP would cook a big family sized one and then watch in horror as I inhaled the lot. Probably best not to think about the time he brought home an apple pie because 'they're pretty much the same anyway' Shock

Ah I don't think I could survive without my milk at the minute but never drank it before I was pregnant! It's strange the way things change. I used to eat curry all the time now even the smell makes me want to be sick x

This has made me giggle...throughout my second trimester i also had an obsession with apple crumble with custard. Remember having a full blown tantrum at 1am on a wednesday because i 'needed' it and dh refused to drive me to 24hr tesco to get some (i havent yet passed my test)......needless to say i got my own way!!!

fruitypie that really made me laugh! I had a similar panic about fruit pastilles - sounds harmless but I had a supply in Germany squirrelled away and gobbled them all up and ran out - where I live you cant get them anywhere, not in the special english shop or anything. Took me a week to get over it and find a substitute german brand (which were not a patch on them - sigh). I moved onto wine gums, but it isn't the same. Hope you get your crumble!

Dp was sent out late one night - the only shop open was morrisons local. No apple crumble ...

But

Morrisons 'the best' apple pie is the mutts- nice and bitter with the crumble at short rust pastry and lots of real apple . Try it . Spend your third trimester sending dp out late. For three!

He came home from work with a bag of apples! Apparently he wasn't listening earlier and thought I wanted just apples. Needles to say I threw one at his head and he is now gone back out in the rain to get the crumble. He protested because we dont have a car and he just walked the 2 miles home from work, so I threatened to break his beloved xbox. He was soon out the door!

fruitypie I think i am at the the full blown tantrum stage. Whilst throwing the apple at his head I screamed that he had no idea what I was going through and this was all his fault. I'm normally so mild mannered and very little angers me, but this apple crumble is tipping me over the edge Hmm

Thanks, these posts made me laugh! I ordered premium triple choc chip cookies on our online shop and couldn't stop thinking about them and when the shopping arrived they had substituted them for just the bog standard normal choc chip ones, plus they were a bit stale. Needless to say DH had to go to the supermarket to buy me some 'proper' cookies. Ate so many of them almost made myself sick. Plus DH keeps using my indigestion medicine (and drinking it from the bottle - yuk) so I've hidden a spare bottle that he doesn't know about.

Can't stop thinking about food and am eating avocados and mayo with EVERYTHING. Was delighted to go out for dinner last night and discover that avocado on a hand made chicken burger was actually listed on the menu, so I didn't look weird ordering it.

Ugh I swear the supermarkets hate me, whenever I have a craving for a particular flavour of something they always have all the other flavours but not the one i want!! Trying to hold back the tears in a supermarket while DH rubs my back and tells me it's ok is kind of embarrassing :/ bless him he's been so good and if I ever send him out for something I'm craving he writes it down so he gets just the right thing :D lots of brownie points for DH!!

I had my first food tantrum this week end....really NEEDED a roast chicken dinner. My mum & I take turns to make a big family roast most week-ends usually about 10 of us. it was my turn but my mum kindly offered to do it as I'm really tired I thanked her but made it clear it must be chicken or I'd stay at home & have my own...Sunday came & there was chicken & ham as there was only 1 small free range chicken left at the supermarket & by the time we'd served everyone there wasn't enough chicken for me to have a full portion & the meat was cold as she'd cooked it earlier that day...well my week end was ruined my eyes filled up at the table & I sulked & had a strop for the full meal...luckily nobody suggested I just have ham...feeling very embarrassed by my behaviour but I needed a chicken dinner....I'm cooking only for me & DH this Sunday & going to have a lovely chicken dinner....unless I feel too sick to eat & then ill go back to sulking...I have turned into a monster but I have no control over my actions anymore. Glad I'm not alone!

Oh god that would have made me sob my heart out Hmm I sulked today as my husband promised to make dinner for once and it was a really dry pasta dish, and no dessert. I was a bit childish, but I'm obsessed with food at the moment. I've been craving coleslaw - we ran out and I was SO gutted x

A few days ago I cried because I used the last of the baking powder. I needed a tiny bit more & bicarb did the job but I was so upset that we'd run out of bp! I would've sent DH out for some but he'd only just got back from getting the eggs I'd forgotten! It took all my self control to keep cooking & not throw the whole lot on the floor & insist on takeaway!

Yesterday I couldn't eat my dinner because it wasn't an orange lolly. Thankfully that's a regular craving for me at the moment so we had plenty in the freezer. Not exactly a balanced diet though! Hmm

Pregnancy is ridiculous!

Just for the cuteness - saw this thread a couple of nights ago and really fancied apple crumble... And last night hubby made surprise home made crumble! Nothing mountains of apples in there, but boy was it's good Grin

Aww, love this thread. I'm 8 weeks and can only stomach Sunday Roast (Gammon!).

I drove to the Toby Carvery at half 9 last night. I NEEDED a dinner!

They do takeaway now...this is bad news, I will be skint.

Cor this thread has cheered me up a treat! I think I could only really enjoy chickpea curry and cheese sandwiches for the first 20 weeks of my pregnancy. Once I got past that I could eat pretty much anything, although then the heartburn and acid indigestion really ramped up if I dared to eat anything remotely like chocolate... And since 37 weeks I've had a real physical urge to eat furniture polish, it makes my mouth water. That and whatever the garage used to clean the interior of my second hand car before I bought it, whenever I get into it I drool. I'm this close to licking the dashboard...

I had a Greggs ham and cheese hot baguette yesterday and have not been able to stop thinking about it since. I even went to the supermarket this morning and bought bumper packs of baguettes, cheese and ham as I figured it would be cheaper to make my own! Am just hoping it tastes as good.
