Hoping you can help me. I am 5+2 with our first child and it's only just hit me that if all goes well this time (1 mc in March 2013 - so really hoping this post doesn't jinx things) I will be about 5 months pregnant when I get married in September this year. I am about to start looking for a dress and I am completely lost. I have no idea what to do or where to go. Are there dress makers/shops that can cater for pregnant women? Can the dress be amended so it fits me properly on the day? The wedding is abroad on a beach so was looking for something pretty in antic style lace?

Congratulations on your wedding and your pregnancy!

You can definitely get maternity wedding dresses but I'm not sure if you have to go to specialist shops or not. I would have thought though that your wedding location is perfect as you can get a loose flowing Grecian style dress that would be perfect for a beach wedding and could easily go over a 5 month bump, or only need slight alterations to do so. As its your first you may not even have a very big bump by then, but I would definitely go for something that is loose flowing from under the bust as you could have a bump and they can pop out almost overnight at that stage so it would be difficult to get a more fitted dress altered

Thank you. I didn't even think about the popping out bit. Thank you

Congratulations!

I am pregnant with my first and am 21+2. I dont really have much of a bump yet so hopefully you will find a dress ok. I am a size 16 though and my size 8 friend had a proper little bump at 5 months so think it really depends on your starting size as well. Hope that helps a bit xx

I'm getting married this year and will be 20 weeks.
There is a make of dresses called Tiffany Rose which are specialist maternity wedding dresses. I went on Saturday and was thrilled at how lovely they are and really reasonable too.

I live in surrey and the shop I went to can get them within a week so you can go much nearer the time to make sure it fits.

They have a website so have a look online. There are various stockists round the country.

I got married at 22 weeks, I had just ordered my wedding dress (and paid a 50% non-refundable deposit!) when I found out I was pregnant. The dress shop were brilliant and managed to swap a size 12 for a size 16 without any charge to me. They then took it in around me. In the end I didnt have much of a bump and they had to take it in loads. My boobs looked great though Wink . I bet you could fit into lots of normal wedding dresses, as well as the maternity ones. Have fun trying them on!

I was pregnant when I got married. Fortunately I'd not bought a dress when I found out. I too recommend Tiffany Rose. I got lots of compliments and felt very comfortable too. I bought online as they have a good return service, it was perfect and cheap.

Seraphine do some lovely ones too (online). Congratulations! 5 months should be a good time.

Mamabear12 · 10/05/2013 07:14

I got my dress online from asos! I was 7 months pregnant and it turned out really nice. I didn't want to get an actual wedding dress, bc I thought it looked silly w a big bump, so opted for a classic cream dress, which looked beautiful and was very flattering to my bump.

Mamabear12 · 10/05/2013 07:15

You could also check Isabella Oliver and google pregnant wedding dress (if u want an actual wedding dress)
