I'm 12 weeks pregnant and over the last few days i'v had a few episodes of dark brown discharge and slight tummy ache.
Heard the babys heartbeat on wednesday at midwives appointment she didn't seem too concerned
I have a dating scan this afternoon but i'm feeling really nervous and terrified that something is wrong.

Has anyone else had this?

Have you spoken to a doctor??

I sugest that you do just to be on the safe side... But whatever you do just make sur that you stay calm and don't worry...

I had spotting and cramps at 8weeks told doc and went for an early scan the next day, all was well and I have a beautiful little girl now 2.5.... So honestly just try not to worry.

i had the same at 11 weeks, i went to the emergency gyney place where they scanned me to see where blood was coming from, they couldn't see anything wrong and said it was prob hormonal or an implantation bleed which has took its time to come out. brown is old blood, so there is less to worry about.
make sure you ask at the scan about it though.

good luck at your scan... fingers crossed that all is well

Good luck with the scan

I had brown discharge, on and off until I was nearly 14 weeks, had various scans and all said they couldn't see where the bleeding was coming from.

So let them know at the scan but DON'T worry - it's quite normal for some women.

oh and GOOD LUCK...

having heard the heartbeat is a very good sign.

I had slight bleeding at 8 wks with dd. It was at exactly the time my period would have been due.

Could be this with you, maybe the time your third period would have been due? Sometimes if your hormones are not quite high enough you can get some breakthrough bleeding.

I also had a scan and they couldn't see where it was coming from. I felt very reassured though once I'd seen her heartbeat and they didn't seem worried at all.

Good Luck and Congratulations Smile

I hope you've had your scan by now, and that it was reassuring. Just wanted to add that not only have I had spotting on/off till now (11 weeks) but also had it at 6 and 10 weeks with dd, and each time had slight tummy ache too. Was told the ache was the blood irritating the tissues probably - and not to worry as long as it wasn't heavy cramping.

Hope it was a one-off for you, spotting is never much fun - normal as it can be - and inevitably stressful!

amyjade - hope you have got on ok at the scan. I had the same thing at around 7 wks and i was terrified. I went to a private clinic and they scanned me, I was so relieved to see my little one with its heartbeating strong, i'm sure you will be too when you see yours. The blood was coming from me and not baby, and it soon stopped. Brown blood is old blood and is not always a bad sign. Stay positive and well, your baby needs you.

Amyjade, hope your scan went ok - brown is good - red is more worrying, as brown indicates old blood, not current bleeding. Also it's quite common to spot at 4, 8, 12 weeks, because it's when you would have your period. Also, once the heartbeat is heard, that reduces the chance of mc.

Hope your mind has been put at rest!

Thanks everyone.

Had my scan and Nuchal fold test, everything looks fine,It was amazing to see a fully formed baby at only 12 weeks with all its fingers and toes!

No obvious sign of where the blood is coming from which is good.
Feeling much more relaxed now and looking forward to having another little bundle of joy. in 6 months.

The hospital took a altersound and the baby was moving an heart beat was 158 an then I went to the OBGYN and he said that my cervix is thick an closed. Has anyone had this happen an went on to have a healthy baby?
