Before becoming pregnant I used to enjoy 1 cup of camomile tea every night before bed and it was lovely. After finding out I looked on the internet and there are a lot of people saying that you should avoid camomile tea as it is a herbal tea and there isn't much research into the possible effects of it in pregnancy.

However today I asked my midwives opinion and she said it was absolutely fine.

Now do I listen to my midwife or do I listen to the abstracts I found on Medline that I only half understood..

Does anyone else drink camomile tea?

Also I kinda thought maybe if I was going to have the odd cup best to wait til 2nd and 3rd trimester?

Is there nothing we can safely eat/drink??

I've been drinking fruit, mint and camomile teas this and last pregnancy and haven't had any problems so far.

According to the NHS website up to 4 cups of camomile tea a day is safe in pregnancy (they looked at the medline stuff by the looks of it).
