Rectal bleeding (Sorry for TMI).

I am 26+1 weeks pregnant with DC2.

After going to the toilet for the 4th time today after I have wiped there has been quite a significant bit of blood on the toilet paper which stops after 2 wipes. I haven't noticed any in the toilet before I have wiped, It definitely isn't coming from the front. again sorry for TMI

Has anyone experienced this?

When is it worth getting checked out?

Is it fresh blood? If it is bright red "fresh" blood it is either an anal fissure or hemmoriods and both are completely normal at your stage in pregnancy. Not worth contacting your doctor for really. Just make sure you try to manage your stool. No constipation, no overly loose stool.

If however, it is not fresh blood it may have come from somewhere closer to the bowel, in which case you really need to go to the doctors.

It is fresh blood, I will just keep an eye on it for the next few days and see how it goes. You've made me feel a lot better about it!

Hi MissSG - I had this exact thing last Wednesday, at 27+2, totally freaked me out. Bright red blood after a number two, after a couple of hours (and second loo trip) noticed that it had stopped.

I was able to have a look in a mirror and it looked like I had a small pile that ahem burst. After being very cautious for 36 hours or so in that department, had no further problems.

All back to normal now, tho I do have a couple of small piles making their presence felt, despite not very ahem hard stools. Baby's obviously piling on the pressure downstairs. If it happens regularly, I'll get it checked.

If you do go to the doctor's (which I would if it starts to give you pain) they'll give you a decent hemorroid cream, which is not to be sniffed at. Sadly, it's quite common with a 2nd pregnancy. It's my 2nd too and I regularly have this problem, not helped by the fact that I have to take iron tablets that turn things into shrapnel or so it feels like...
