quick question for ivf successes???

I've posted this in infertility and conception but haven't had any replies so was wondering if this is the best place. I'm just about to start ivf again and they have changed my injections from menopur to gonal f.
I'm a bit of a nightmare and don't like change!! On menopur we have 5 out of six eggs fertilise which I thought was good. It sadly failed but having used menopur before with harly any side effects I'm dubious to start using gonal f. Its the unknown again I suppose.
Have any of u ladies on here got any success stories on gonal f and was you ok on it?? Be so grateful to get some replies on this xx

I think change is a good thing, you didn't get pregnant from the other round after all. My third and only successful round entailed a change (from menopur to Fostimon) and I'm now sat here 30 weeks pregnant.

In fact, they collected one less egg but the quality of the resulting embryos was double what we'd had before. So that egg had obviously matured fantastically.

If you're very concerned, talk to them. But my view is, if a previous round or rounds haven't worked, change could be a good thing, and don't panic about numbers, it's the quality!

As for side effects, each round is different and actually, my successful round was where I had the worst side effects (nothing major, just headaches, exhaustion etc) but who cares cos I'm preggers, woop!

I had menopur for my first round - I produced over 20 eggs but no really good ones so i changed for round two - everyone responds differently to each drug. Good luck with your next treatment. I am at the end of my ivf journey with 3 gorgeous children so hang on in there and stay positive

I had four cycles and there were changes every cycle, I even changed my clinic to one that was hundreds of miles away for my last
(Successful) cycle. Be open to change , your previous cycle was unsuccessful and you didn't have loads of eggs so it I, worth trying something new.

Hi there, I had 6 rounds of ivf, and m currently 36+6. All my rounds were selffunded. I was on a mixture of gonal f and menopur, though the majority was Gonal f

As I understand it, Gonal f produces better quality eggs, whereas menopur produces a higher quantity. Gonal f is the more expensive of he two drugs.

Go for it. As the others have said, a change is usually a good thing and I found it help keep me positive

In my opinion there's no difference between them, the eggs are either mature or not and I don't think the type of fsh can influence much more than that. I produced 30 eggs on gonal f, which ended in 9 top quality blasts. Only one stuck though, the last one, and am sat here at 8+1 willing the time away until my next scan at 10w. X

Yes, agree with MrsH. It's all down to your eggs maturing and your clinic making sure they retrieve at the right time. I really hope this is your time. Best wishes.

I was on gonal f 112.5 for my first round of ivf and it worked for me (15 weeks now). No major side effects but I was on the short protocol. I agree with the posters above that what matters much more is the quality of the eggs (which is decided months before your cycle) and timing. Try not to worry and good luck.

Congrats to some of u on your bfp and successful ivf rounds. I suppose the first round of ivf they don't really know how you will respond so second time they have more of an idea. They are starting me on 300 gonal f which sounds really high but I will just try to forget about that and just have faith they know what they are doing :)

Don'tworry that it is high, you want the most And best quality eggs.
