38wks and think the baby is now breech!

I had a scan done at 36wks to check possition of the baby and it was head down possition. I have always felt kicking at the top of my tummy like its foot moving across the top. Today though i am feeling moving and kicking down below. Sometimes its really painful when it moves like sharp pains.. Does this mean my baby has moved possition? should i worry hoping it will still turn again? I had emergancy c last time becasue my ds was bum breech and dont want another surprise this time. WHat do you think?

When is your next midwife appointment Dunnyjo ? I would defo ask her after your experience last time.

hi there - while your m/w is on hols, can you see one of the hospital midwives, or perhaps a different one from your practice? Have you heard about using acupuncture to turn the baby - no needles for this one, they just use a heat source (moxa) near one of your pressure points - near your little toe - and it's incredibly successful at getting the bub to turn. Worth checking out! depending on where you live, a session with the acu should set you back about £30-40.

hello star, spoke to mw and i explained that i think baby has moved, but she said there is nothing that could be done at this satge now. I am going to see the doctor tomorrow a.m and see if they think it has moved and get me in for a scan. WHat would happen next then if it is breech will they bk me in for a c?

think i will look into the acupunctre, i have been told about that before. My sister does reflexoligy so i will ask her to help!

Dunnyjo - with my last pregnancy I went through the exact same thing - was convinced baby had moved, but it turned out to be a false alarm, so don't worry too much yet - It could be the baby's arms you are feeling.

Thanks for replys, i am hoping it will be a false alarm but because its feels so totally different now i am worried. got an appointment this afternoon with the doc to see what she thinks, if she thinks its changed then they will put me in for a scan. I know there is nothing they can do if it has changed but i just want to know and feel a bit more in control. Last time with ds i was 9cm coping really well on g&a until they broke my waters and then i was whisked off in an ambulance. At the time it was so frightning it took me a long time to recover and emotionally i was all over the place well mind you this time i have to have it at the hospital anyway so if they do have problems then i am in the best place for it

I'm wondering if the sharp pains and low movement you mention could actually be the baby's head engaging? I started getting sharp pains in my groin at about 37/38 weeks with this pregnancy (didn't have them last time as dd1 was breech) but this time it's def head down (had a scan to check) and am getting this "burrowing" feeling which is apparantly the head getting settled in the pelvis. Just a thought - guess you'll know a kick when you feel one though... Good luck with appointment today.

If it does turn out to have turned, my mw swears by a chinese herbal "stick thing" which sounds like a giant insence stick that you burn next to a particular part of your foot!! i know, i know, sounds a bit bizarre but my mw says she's seen a remarkable success rate with them - even at 38+ weeks with one woman (and she seems like a fairly down-to-earth type of person!) I can't remember the name of it but you can get them from the Dr Herbs type places if you have anything like that near you. Might be worth a shot - you never know!

Thats exactly what my sister said to me that the baby has prob engaged more and thats why it feels different. Those pains are horrendous! I am thinking about it more now and realise that maybe i should just leve it and see what happens. I had a scan done at 36wks and baby was in head down possition. The chances it turning at this point is pretty slim surely?

I was a bit worried about the pains at first as I hadn't experienced them before (not surprisingly as dd1 never engaged due to being breech) and they don't seem to be mentioned in any of the books, but loads of the posters on the May babies thread are complaining about them and they seem to be normal! Here's hoping that's what it is and you get your vbac - hoping for one too (due tomorrow) so will keep my fingers crossed for you!
