11+5 and cramps... Please put my mind at ease?

Hi,

I'm 11+5 today and for the past 2/3 days I've been experiencing cramping in the evenings, it feels like my period cramps and its like a dull pain on my left lower abdomen... I'm so scared I have barely slept the past few nights due to worry, is this normal, has anyone else experienced this?!

I have my scan on Tuesday... So worried

I'm 12 weeks today (scan on mon) and have had a similar thing. Mine feels like I've pulled a muscle in my pelvis. I was concerned about SPD so have been doing some googling and reckon it's round ligament pain - basically your body is stretching to accommodate your growing uterus. I also get horrific wind in the evenings which doesn't help

But if you are in a lot of pain or very anxious call NHS Direct tonight/tomorrow or your midwife on Monday. Pregnancy is such a weird thing -all these aches and pains that no one mentions (or you totally forget about if it's a subsequent) so no wonder you are anxious. Do try to relax if you can (easier said than done, I know)

Hi numbertwo thanks for getting back to me... This is my second preg, my DS is 4 so it's been a while and can't remember this happening at all....

I am SO worried, I just want to see that my baby is fine, I've read that this is normal but it's so hard to just think that... I called hosp two days ago crying they told me to take paracetamol and call NHS24 if problems persist.... Hmmm, I know they see 1000000 people pregnant but I've not so would feel better if they bothered to reassure me, I don't want to call again as I feel they will think it is trivial and make me feel as they did the other day, I would love to just get checked out....

These cramps is what made me test early when I got my BFP - I do have period like cramps before period, but these were so intense I thought I'd better poas :D

I'm 9 weeks tomorrow and they eased off a lot since week 4, but now and again I still get them, some are stronger than others. This is due to your uterus stretching, and I'd say it's completely normal. Obviously, if you are still worried, call your mw, but the way you described them seem normal to me.

I kept a diary through my pregnancy and seemed to moan a lot about cramps throughout and it was the body expanding to allow for the growth of the child. Like growing pains.

You should always text your midwife if you are worried though. That is what they are there for, they are used to the questions and nothing is a stupid question in pregnancy.

In the mean time, try relaxing on an evening doing whatever works for you. Sod off work and any housework, don't think about anything.

I'm sorry they made it seem trivial - but if you want to ring again, do! It's what they're there for. This is my second one too and I don't seem to remember anything from the first time either (and DD is only 17 months so it wasn't even that long ago... I don't think you'd do it again if you did remember it all!) but I read round ligament pain is worse in subsequent pregnancies as your body is already ruined used to pregnancy and so just inflates! I'm with you on the pre-scan insomnia though - desperate to see my baby and know that everything is ok. DP thinks I've gone loopy (so do I on occasion). Roll on this week and hopefully gorgeous bouncing baby scan pics. X

I've had them throughout this pregnancy. I'm 24 weeks now, pregnant with DC 2 after 3 miscarriages since DS. Any abdominal pain obviously freaks me right out. I took myself to A&E at about 18 weeks as I got so panicky. All checked out and all fine. So much stretching and growing, plus a bit of pelvic girdle pain, this time round and I'm super sensitive. Am just about able to stay calm when the aching flares up which it usually does in the dead of night. I take paracetamol if it's stopping me sleep and try to reassure myself.
Just saying, it's normal.

I had these with my second pregnancy. Very worrying but a lot of my friends experienced them to and we put it down to uterus stretching. All was ok and I am sure it will be for you too.

However, give your midwife a ring for reassurance.

Thank you all for your kind reassuring messages! Still period cramps but they have not came to anything more, no bleeding etc so I have decided to man up, I can't help worrying, but I do now understand its normal, can't wait until my scan on tues, only then will I properly feel at ease.

It's been so long since DS I have forgotten the lot!

I think I may start a pregnancy diary so I never forget!?
