Hi,
Have been told I have this blood clotting disorder. Anyone else have it and still been able to have a c section??!
Thanks

Hello, I also have this. Are you homozygous or heterozygous? I'm the latter and probably you are too if you've only for found out about it as the latter is a lot less serious. I didn't have a c section but came off clexane at 36 weeks in case I needed one on the presumption that my blood wouldn't be too thin and therefore a problem by the time I delivered. I did stay on aspirin until term. I also went back on clexane after delivery for 6 weeks.

I saw a haematologist at about 16 weeks who was quite dismissive and basically said that being heterozygous for factor v Leiden was irrelevant in pregnancy and had no impact, and didn't make a clot more or less likely. The obstetric community will tell you different and frankly, as the clexane and aspirin do no harm to me or the baby, why not take it.

By the way I inherited this condition from my dad who didn't know he had it until he got tested when I found out I had it. He was 62, smokes (not very heavily, but still), spent most of the early 90s on planes between Europe and the US, and spent two months in bed with a broken leg when he was 16. Never had a clot! It's a fairly low risk condition.

The very best of luck with your pregnancy.

Hi, I don't have the disorder but I am on third pregnancy with clexane after clots. Last time, they told me to stop it as soon as I started to feel contractions or as soon as I had a sweep (which is what I had)
Had a normal delivery and back on the clexane afetrwards.
I imagine it should be similar for a c section. The only concern is bleeding too much in delivery I think?
