We had unexplainned infertilty, were ttc for 5 years. We had one round of ivf that failed and was just about to start again and we got a very big surprise BFP!!I'm now 12 weeks. Never give up hope.
Things I did, I started taking a low dose aspirin few months before, I had reiki and reflexogy the month before. Also thought sod it and signed my life away on a new car and finance...then bingo!!! Good luck and baby dust heading your way xx

MarthasHarbour · 05/07/2013 22:27

Congrats on all the BFPs, bouncing babies and success stories on here by the way! Grin

blondebaby incidentally i got the number of a reflexologist today, and SMIL is a dab hand at reiki so may give her a shout. i never thought of the aspirin though, i knew to take it after a BFP to reduce the risk of MC. Good to hear all the tips. I have also just started the Couch to 5k

i-guess the red wine tonight isnt helping

My ex-husband and I tried for 8 years and we had four rounds of IVF, all unsuccessful due to failure to implant. I was told I would never conceive naturally as both my tubes are blocked. We split up last year; now I am with a new partner, and yep, you guessed it, a very welc

Damn phone! A very welcome baby boy due in 10 weeks!!

I've got a nice story!

I'm now 28 weeks pregnant.
When we tried to get pregnant I got ill and needed antibiotics. Then my period didn't came anymore.
I also had pregnancy like symptoms.

We were very happy thinking that I was pregnant. But no positive pregnancy tests. We went to the doctor and again nothing.

Lot's of blood tests to find out what's wrong with me. The antibiotics messed around with my thyroid glans. Because of that my periods stayed away. We didn't know if this was going to be temporary or for a long time. If it was going to stay like this for a long time I'd need some medication.

The doctor knew that we were trying to get pregnant. He advice to wait until he know exactly what was going on with me and if I needed medication or not.

I couldn't use any hormonal contraception, because the doctor wanted to know when my normal period would come.
I couldn't use what I normally did. A computer to calculate when my safe and unsafe days were.

So we used condoms. Only just one time in the heat of the moment we forgot about them.

I had an appointment with the doctor about my test results and nothing was changed. My hormones and everything were still out of balance. I told him about the one time we forgot.

His reaction:
Your last period has been over 100 days ago now. Your thyroid glans are still not working like they should.
The change on getting pregnant from that one time is very very low.

A couple of weeks later I had another blood test.
Everything was functioning like they should and I was pregnant!!! (and still am)
I got another blood test a couple of weeks later and again everything was good.

We were so worried, really worried when my period didn't came back anymore. At that time we didn't know what was going on or if it was going to stay that way.

I felt so silly telling my doctor that we only did it without just ones. I thought he'd never believe that. Over 100 days and then when I finally had a fertile moment after so long. We did it without and got pregnant. But that's how it went.

On that moment it was such a small change on getting pregnant and it happened.

I understand that you're worried. Unfortunately not everyone is as lucky as we were. But it's possible.
Just 1 egg and 1 little swimmer, that's all what it takes.

In my partners family there is a couple and it took them over 15 years to get pregnant. They tried everything there is to try to get pregnant.
After 15 years she got pregnant and not much later they had another child.

A friend of mine told me that her mother was told by her GP that she was infertile. When she met her dad they didn't do anything to stop a pregnancy, because she was infertile.

Then she felt ill. Went to her GP and he did some tests. The result was that she was pregnant. First she didn't wanted to believe him.

My friend said: But here I'm!!! And after me they had my sister.

We started ttc Sept 2012, came off contraception. Hoped not to get pregnant straight away as were getting married in may 2013 and didn't want a bump!

Nothing happened. I'm 37 so started fertility investigations. No apparent issues with me or DH. Went to see fertility consultant re course of action. Bfp 3 days later! Due in 6 weeks! (we only did days 8 + 10 that month too)

no problems conceiving DC1.
Unexplained secondary infertility - took 2.5 years to conceive DC2 (am 25 weeks now).
Everyone we saw (GP, fertility clinics, endocrinologist) said it's common to struggle the second time - but everyone else I knew was getting pregnant again straight away!
We tried IUI twice and were booked in for 3rd IUI, then looking to move on to IVF, when I finally got the BFP.
I wasn't doing anything particularly differently. I had had my thyroid checked out as part of the infertility work up and over the course of 6 months or so I ate a better diet and tried to look after myself a bit more, which changed the thyroid levels enough to be within the 'normal for optimal fertility' range. So didn't need medication for that.
was v surprised as was quite stressed out at work and massively busy at the time we conceived, and was generally feeling a bit exhausted and rubbish. Perhaps it was just luck - it can be 'normal' to take 12 months to conceive, so perhaps for me a combination of bad timing (I never had a consistent response with OPKs so gave up with them), and slightly out of balance hormones (I used to get spotting in run up to AF, which can (apparently) mean progesterone a bit low) meant it just took longer. Or perhaps the IUI meds helped kick-start things. Who knows...

Good luck - hope you get there soon!

When we first started trying i got pregnant really easily but sadly miscarried at 11 weeks. Tried for the next 3 years with a couple of IUI but no luck. Eventually decided to give up. Went on holiday, drank, had sex when we felt like it, no opks and 2 weeks later there was the bfp. 2nd time got pregnant within a few months.

I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility. TTC 18 months, which isn't as long as most here, but in my mid 30s and had been using a calendar method of contraception (just dates, nothing more) for 3 years before this which my GP said "well if everything was ok it would have failed after that amount of time"
In February we were offered to start IUI before IVF. I wasn't sure I was ready for assisted conception and the consultant suggested we give things 6 more months. As it was I conceived that month and am now 18weeks and still can't quite believe I'm pregnant.
I had been having 5 element acupuncture for about 4 months which I really think helped me.
Good luck with your journey.

Hi, I am really sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with unexplained infertility. I have been, too. There are many many success stories of couples conceiving in the Fertile Heart community, despite such couples being in TTC stage for many years (some over 10 years) and usually being told they have unexplained infertility or no chance of conceiving without assisted fertility technology. I would very very much recommend the Fertile Heart practice (see www.fertileheart.com) and read Julia Indichova's book "Inconceivable" and "Fertile Female" in which she describes her own journey of so-called hopeless infertility to conceiving a healthy baby! Julia is an amazing woman and has helped thousands of couples and women conceive naturally, despite the statistical odds against them... It is all about the mind-body connection. I send you lots of luck and I hope Julia and the Fertile Heart community will help and support you in your baby journey! They are a rock of support for me! xx
