Time off for appointments (husband/partner)

I know the answer is probably no but......

Do partners/husbands have any right to time off for scans/hospital appointments?

Dh has been 2 of the scans I've had, as they fell on his day off. He's missed the others as he's not been allowed time off (as holiday) I've had to go on set days because of consultants rota.

I have a consultant appointment next week and I have to let them know if I'm having vbac or elcs, a decision I'm finding hard to make and I really could do with dh being there. He has had his holiday request refused again as he has to go on a course. (He has explained reason) he has been told course should finish at 1pm but appointment is at 2.30 (60 mile drive home)

Sorry to sound whiny but just needed him to be with me this time for support.

unfortunately there is no requirement that dp is given time off for stuff like this, though it's the law that you should be given permission to go. his employers are being very inflexible IMO.

I think it depends on how nice the employers are, and the type of job.

my oh has had one scan fall on his day off, and another they swapped his day off on the rota so he could attend. he works in a shop.

if I were you I would reschedule the appointment if it means such a lot to you.
in our situation, I would prioritise scans, and battle through appointments on my own having previously discussed the issues with oh, but obviously I don't know your situation - are you high risk?

We have tried to swap days off etc for appointments or book hols but it has always fallen so the answer has been no, he does work shift patterns as cover for others so I suppose this makes things more difficult.

I had pre eclampsia with ds & failure to progress which resulted in emcs (son was stuck so this was not as straight forward as usual ) I was told after son was born that would definitely have a cs for next child but now they have said its my choice. I have looked at all the pros & cons for both but really don't know what to do.

I will see if I can make appointment later so he can come, otherwise will sit down and discuss everything with dh again so I am clear before I go etc.
