Pain under ribs and right hand side - 35 weeks

Am really really uncomfortable - can still feel baby moving but pains are getting worse - thus is DC2 - can't be contractions surely?

Probably not. The contractions start lower down and feel like strong period pains. Everyone says you'll know when they start and if you have to ask then it's not contractions. It's a cliche because it's true!

I had a almost permanent pain under my ribs during my pregnancy. Turned out to be a foot. The midwife commented on DD's funny angled foot.

PS if you worried about the pain. Go directly to the hospital or doctor's. If you ring them they'll only tell you not to go in until the contractions are 3 in 10 minutes

Hi gloucester I do have a lot of kicking going on under right hand rib so that must be it!

Is it all down your side or just under your ribs? I only ask because when I was pregnant with dd1 I got gallstones, apparently they can occour in pregnancy, something about the hormones.

I agree with gloucestergirl you should get to the hospital asap if you are worried or concerned at all.

Yep, little feet stuck right up under ribs on right hand side here too, with DS1, at around that stage.

Severe pain below ribs on right side can be a sign on HELLP syndrome, a severe life-threatening form of pre-eclampsia. i don't mean to worry you, of course it's more likely to be baby's foot digging in but if you're worried please do get it checked out.

Oh I had problems with gallstones which started when pregnant too - mine was a really severe, intense pain though - not just discomfort. Definitely go and get checked out. If they do a scan they will spot gallstones... There isn't much they can do whilst you are pregnant, but at least you will know and can be treated afterwards.

It's eased up today. My DS who has also been pg twice thinks it was baby's position. I'm sure she's dropped today which may be why I suddenly feel lighter and able to breathe.
