Low Placenta and bleeding

I'm 14/15 weeks pregnant and started bleeding on tuesday. I went to hospital for an exam and a scan. My cervix is closed, baby is fine, moving, heartbeat seen. The gyne consultant who scanned me says she thinks the placenta is low and that is the cause of the bleed. Its not totally covering the cervix, in fact it looks like its only slightly covering it, obviously enough to causee a bleed. They said to take it easy and see if it moves round and up by the 20 weeks scan, as most do. What I didnt ask though, was, can it keep growing downwards and cover more of the cervix?

I'm gonna be booked in for a c section for other reasons anyway, but I'm terrified of being kept in hosptial for months, or having to deliver early. My mum was in for 4 months for a low lying placenta.

Am seeing a consultant next week... is there anything else i should ask about this? Can the placenta grow lower, or only upward?

thanks. xx

as your uterus gets bigger, the placenta may move upwards with it and get further away from the cervix. I havent had experience of this so hopefully someone more knowledgable will come along!!

Can only grow up and not lower. Or stay static. Definately not grow down wards,
Good luckSmile
