So morning sickness is still all day but more survivable and I can imagine enjoying food again. Started obsessing about the things I'm going to tuck into after the birth. So far the list is a) big frosted glass white wine b) pâté and French loaf and c) the ripest hunk of Brie I can get from the local cheese shop. Hmmmmm, mouldy cheese....

A great big stinky cheese platter and a BIG glass of red.

Saundy · 07/04/2013 16:57

& don't forget all the cured meats we can't have to accompany said cheese board Grin

DXBMermaid · 07/04/2013 16:57

Have to wait another 6 weeks or so but already planning to send DH out for a smoked salmon baguette from Paul and will most definately have a glass of cold white wine (bottle is already chilling in the fridge). Pate and Frois Gras are also on the list. Am hoping that I will be able to enjoy steak again as since I fell pregnant it tastes awful. Oh and homemade tiramisu!!
You're making me hungry, despite having just had dinner. Blush

KirstyoffEastenders · 07/04/2013 17:01

I'm getting my list ready, only 8.5 months to wait. Thought I'd better check what I 'can't' eat today and it seems to be everything I love :(

Cavort · 07/04/2013 17:01

A glass of Shiraz and a rare fillet steak for me, unless by some miracle it's boiling hot (due 26th June) in which case I will have a lovely freezing cold bottle of Corona with lime Grin

cupcake78 · 07/04/2013 17:06

Rare steak, stinky Camembert and other yummy stinky banned cheeses, pate!

I've found a compromise with most things but these can't be beaten.

cupcake78 · 07/04/2013 17:06

Ooow, also due 26th June Wine

RugBugs · 07/04/2013 17:06

A glass (or pint) of cider, pâté and cured meat.
Baby is due in August, I'm seriously considering going home from hospital via a pub if the weather is nice.

speedyboots · 07/04/2013 17:11

Have been fantasising about this regularly. Rare steak and a glass of red wine. 5 weeks to go!

fatandlumpy · 07/04/2013 17:22

We've got a magnum of Champagne (1/2 price at Sainsbo's!). July/August baby and I WILL be found, face down in pate, runny cheeses, parma ham etc...post partum. I may even have a fag, but I really don't want to start smoking again (freaking hard enough giving up in the first trimester!)

ilovepowerhoop · 07/04/2013 17:30

smoked salmon and cold cooked meats are not on the banned list so you can have them when pregnant if you wish:

shelley72 · 07/04/2013 17:30

a lovely piece of (probably NHS) toast. you cant beat a bit of toast just after youve given birth !

ilovepowerhoop · 07/04/2013 17:33

toast and a cup of tea was my first meal after birth too

slug · 07/04/2013 17:36

After DD was born and she had finally been allowed home from the SCBU, we went to the IL's for lunch. There waiting for me was a loaded table with all the things I has missed. Fois Gras, blue cheese, Brie, etc.

There was a lot of hormonal weeping from me, not to mention vast amounts of scoffing. Best surprise present from them ever.

CitrusyOne · 07/04/2013 17:38

I was over excited about the prospect of my toast but my hospital didn't do it! Had a nice cup of tea and a croissant which was the consistency of a cricket ball.

GeordieCherry · 07/04/2013 17:39

Aww Slug, that's lovely!

Speedyboots I've got 6 weeks to there. After which time, there'll be a big fat raaaaare steak, with crumbled Roquefort atop. And a glass of red the size of my head!

Msbluesky32 · 07/04/2013 17:48

Comte cheese - the biggest lump I can find!
Sushi - how I've missed sushi.

I'm getting a bit excited about the prospect of drinking here, I heard from a very stern breast feeding teacher that you couldn't drink because it alters your supply - anyone know about this? Sorry to jump your post but I'd go to bed very happy knowing I can drink the odd glass of rosé this summer! Thanking you muchly.

Manc451 · 07/04/2013 18:11

I heard that too, but I'm allowing myself one! And an entire cheese platter. Can't imagine enjoying steak again though....

Ilovepowerhoop I was told that with salmon and cured meats it's not about the food, but about that packaging. There is no place around here that sells non-vacuum sealed salmon, hence why I'm not eating any but I do get cured meats sliced freshly from the deli and eat those. The lists also seem to differ per country. Please tell me I haven't given up smoked salmon for no good reason all these months Wink

FoofFighter · 07/04/2013 18:18

You can have sushi!

melli · 07/04/2013 18:20

Mmm a large glass of red vino. Pate too, not normally that into it but have craved it my entire pregnancy. And msblue I am sure one glass of vino now and then will not affect your supply.

NewChoos · 07/04/2013 18:22

Brie and Prosecco.
Cheesecake (have to monitor blood sugars in pregnancy so had to avoid) - actually sweet stuff in general without the need to feel guilty.

speedyboots · 07/04/2013 18:36

Geordie - can't wait!
Msblue - this website is really useful (someone linked to it on another thread). The pdf at the bottom of the page has a useful chart to work out how long the alcohol will take to leave your system.

Msbluesky32 · 07/04/2013 18:36

fooffighter really? Nooooooooo........ (I'm 39+6 today, which means I've spent my ENTIRE pregnancy abstaining from sushi)

melli you are probably right
