Does a longer menstrual cycle mean a longer pregnancy?

40+2 today and usually have a 30-35 day cycle. Are they linked?

My cycle was anything between 18 and 35 days and ds born at 38 weeks. [unhelpful]

marzipananimal · 05/04/2013 11:27

A midwife told me that people with longer cycles have longer pregnancies. I have long cycles and DS was born at 40+13

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 05/04/2013 11:27

Unrelated.
Always had a 28day cycle. Dc1 40+13, dc2 39+1.
They come when they're ready.

DefiniteMaybe · 05/04/2013 11:29

My cycles are anywhere from 31-180 days. Ds was born at 39+1, dd was born at 39+2.

RightUpMyRue · 05/04/2013 11:30

40+13?!! No no no Sad

When I was having my babies I had a 31 day cycle. They were both 3 days over their due date. But I know the plural of anecdote is not data.

marzipananimal · 05/04/2013 11:39

Sorry Rightup, hopefully you'll have better luck than me!

RightUpMyRue · 05/04/2013 11:39

"But I know the plural of anecdote is not data."

Grin Like it.

35-45 day cycle, dd arrived 3 days early.

CareerGirl01 · 05/04/2013 11:46

27 day cycle-regular as clockwork - DD1 was born at 42+1

MrsBungle · 05/04/2013 11:50

28 day cycle, regular as clock work. DC1 born 40+8. DC2 was induced at 40+4 and was showing no signs of coming before then!

I have never heard of this being related before. I think they just come when they are ready.

sieglinde · 05/04/2013 11:54

Alas, no. I have a 23-day cycle and both my dcs were induced at 43 weeks :(

CheeseandGherkins · 05/04/2013 12:09

5-6 weeks cyclea and all mine were early. 36 weeks, 38 weeks, 39 weeks, 37 weeks (induced stillbirth) and 34 weeks (semi induced due to GD (long story!))

If your due date was calculated from 12w scan measurements (rather than date of last period), you shouldn't have a longer pregnancy than average (but keeping in mind of course that average still has plenty of people giving birth later than their EDD).

RightUpMyRue · 05/04/2013 14:27

Completely unrelated it seems.

Back to eating this pineapple and bouncing...
