29 weeks today an have been suffering this week with piles. My friend reckoned she is still getting them now and her dd is a year old. How am I going to get through the next 11 weeks, let alone year with these.

Any one got any tips for dealing with them? Meant to be having a Brazilian on Wednesday, but am def not going to want a waxing lady near my bum at this rate Wink

I feel your pain. I got them when I was pregnant with DS1 and although it got a lot better after the birth they never completely went away and would get irritated if I got anywhere close to constipated. Now with my second pregnancy they are back with a vengeance.

Make sure you are having plenty of fibre and drink lots of water. When you go for a number 2, don't strain (straining makes the blood vessels swell up and makes for a very painful rest of the day) and if possible try and raise your feet/knees so you're in more of a squatting position (we have a small stool that I put my feet onto).

At 29w though they might also be caused by the baby's head coming down and putting pressure on the nether regions, which just can't be helped.

I feel your pain! Having recently had my LO I can give you hope that the second you give birth things do start to improve. For me, it was all about baby getting so heavy.

In the meantime, I was so desperate I did a search on old Mumsnet threads and came across this one www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/a1524184-Haemorrhoid-Treatment-In-Pregnancy

It's got advice from someone who actually works in that area (as it were) it was by far the most helpful thread. One other thing the midwife gave me cream to put in the fridge and it's been a godsend - it's called xyloproct. Definitely worth a try.

My friend had a problem with haemorrhoids which wouldn't clear with Anusol, so she got a stronger steroid prescription from the GP which worked wonders.

Only thing is you can't use it while pregnant!

My eldest is 11 and I don't still have piles at all. Ever.
