Big knickers...

I might just be being a bit stupid but have started packing my hospital bag and bought some 'full briefs' as they seem to be highly recommended for after the birth. Or at least I though it was full briefs that were. Opened them and they are ENORMOUS. I don't just mean big, I mean huge. Have I bought the wrong thing? Surely there is no need for pants that size? Bought a 16 when I am a 12 on the bottom which can't help.
Any advice about what I really need would be gratefully received!

Remember youre going to need to find a huge maternity pad (or pads) in them. I'm a 12 and bought a size 16 and they are just right.

Do I trial run by putting them on over your current pants, put a pad in and see what they look like.

Thanks missblue. Took them out of the packet and couldn't take them seriously! They must come up easily to the belly button. Is that the kind you should get? Proper, hardcore granny pants? Grin

Sounds like you got the right size. Just don't think about them until you've had baby, then you will look at them with new eyes.

DolomitesDonkey · 29/03/2013 17:26

If you have a section you won't be wanting sexy wee pants resting on your scar.

ng1412 · 29/03/2013 17:59

Afraid to say they sound just right. The joys of pregnancy and giving birth!

LetMeAtTheWine · 29/03/2013 18:15

ha ha, ok then ladies I will take your word for it! Wink

Am devastated though - wasn't planning on wearing those bad boys for at least another 50 years!

It'll only be for a short while. Then you can deny all knowledge. [bugrin]

Uhoh2007 · 29/03/2013 18:26

Grin full briefs. Ha! I've just packed mine. And yes they're most definitely required!

LetMeAtTheWine · 29/03/2013 18:27

Will do, frustrated, will do!

Still need to buy mine. putting it off

LetMeAtTheWine · 29/03/2013 18:37

It's all glamour isn't it, UhOh?!

dinkystinky · 29/03/2013 18:40

Yup if you are a 12 pre-pregnancy size 16 pants are a good bet for post birth pants.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 29/03/2013 18:41

Yeah, pure glamour.

That and damn good excuse to go out and buy new nice pants afterwards.

Fairylea · 29/03/2013 18:43

I used to wear lacey thongs.

I brought matalan huge knickers that came up nearly to my arm pits when I had ds as I had an elective c section and they were soooooo comfortable.....

I'm still wearing them now.

Oops. Ds is now nearly 10 months! :)

LetMeAtTheWine · 29/03/2013 18:43

I'm a bit worried they will be so comfortable I won't want to give them up (once I finally convince myself to wear them)!

Yep, giant Black m&s granny pants post section are a must and am reluctant to part with them 9 months on

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 29/03/2013 18:51

Yes yes yes to big granny pants. I'm a 14/16 normally and currently (9 days post delivery) wearing size 18/20 with mattress-like maternity pads. Sexy they ain't, but they certainly are more comfortable! Smile

dopeysheep · 29/03/2013 21:08

I am normally a 12 and I had size 18/20 pants. They covered my belly button and everything. Security pants. Don't knock them until you've tried them.

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 29/03/2013 21:46

Ha! I had exactly the same reaction when I opened my packet of big knickers! I bought a pack of Tescos full brief two sizes bigger than I usually am and they're enormous!

MumaBex · 29/03/2013 22:08

Just think if things dont go quite to plan and you have to have a c section you need massive pants as you cant have any that rest where they have cut. Embrace the big pants.

FriendofDorothy · 29/03/2013 23:20

I loved my massive knickers. So soft and comfortable! Think they were from Primark.
