Telly in bedroom - very very trivial

At the moment DH and I do not have a telly in the bedroom but I know a few people who decided to get one to give them something to watch while feeding.

I was planning /assuming I'd be feeding in the living room and at night DH would be sleeping so wouldn't have it on anyway.

Will I be spending more time in the bedroom than I thought? First baby and its funny the things that go through your head!

Thanks TeaandFlapjack and Rockchick, I'll have a look into them.

podcasts on my ipod got me through night feeds.

I soon got freeview in my bedroom when I realised dd needed to sit upright for an hour after feeds due to reflux.
No way I'm sitting there that long staring into space.'got my I phone as well for overnight mumsnetting

I spend a lot of time feeding 8 wk old DD in bed (and even more so this week as I've been ill). My igadgets have been a lifesaver and I watch tv on them too. Also great for podcasts and, er, Ebay shopping Blush Really must start reading books though as that's how I thought I would be spending my time...

And if your dp is anything like mine I wouldn't worry about the baby waking him. Dd woke is both for about 3 or 4 weeks- I'd had c-section and couldn't lift her from Moses basket. When I could lift her myself she stopped waking dp and he never has a clue how many times she's been up in the night. She wakes, I sit in bed an feed her, she goes back to sleep. Dp knows nothing of it.

When DS was young (pre 8mo I think) we had our TV in the bedroom. I liked it because he would cluster feed in the evening, so it was nice to just be able to watch some TV shows/a film with DH while DS was feeding 2+ hours.

We no longer have it in the bedroom now and I don't miss it (besides, DS's room is next door to our bedroom so wouldn't really work). But not sure what will happen when DS2 arrives. TV in bedroom isn't really an option anymore because of DS1 unless I used headphones, but then that wouldn't really work for watching TV together with DH. So I think we'll just watch TV on the couch in the evening and then if I'm feeding in bed I'll just either watch stuff on my iPhone or read my Kindle.

I have a kindle fire for night feeds. We do also have tv in our bedroom. We normally watch a bit of tv in.bed while doing baby joby's last feed. It's also been good for mornings when the baby has been cluster feeding. I can just snuggle up and watch trashy morning tv while baby is stuck on the boob!

I just use my iPhone during nightfeeds,or just cuddle and stare at my baby(wishing he would go back to sleep so I can too).TV would disturb DH and prove an even greater attraction for my other 2 to come into our bed..I plan on never having screens in any of our bedrooms!

We have one. DS wouldn't sleep if the room was totally dark, and it was more interesting to look at than a lamp.
