Help! I'm only 17 wks and yet can't fit into any of my clothes! I've been out shopping to all usual suspects but find that mat clothes are too big yet but standard look like they've been painted on! Anyone got any ideas, I'm feeling pretty crappy and need some stuff that I'll feel like a sexy young mum with another bun on the way in!!!

Next Directory, Asda George and Dorothy Perkins were my favourites when I was pg.

Thanks, in fact they were mine too but I was lighter to begin with first time round and now I'm struggling to find anything I'm happy in. I'll give them another whirl this week.

Have you tried ebay?

I have picked up some great items from there.

sunnyside · 08/05/2006 22:55

I hadn't thought of that, cheers I'll give it a go right now!

Love the Isabella Oliver stuff. Ebay was a bit of a godsend too. Thanks ladies.

Don't know if you're still looking, but in case it helps...

I'm usually a 16-18 and found that at about 16 weeks I just felt hugely fat, not pregnant at all. Got some really nice stuff from New Look that was in their standard range as they have quite a few empire line/long tops etc around at the moment that were flattering and pretty (some even fit me now and I'm nearly 37 weeks!). Also got a lot from H&M (either L or XL for that size), and at the stage you are now, if you can find any topshop maternity clothes in a 16 (though they are usually out of stock), they will probably fit you for another 6-8 weeks. I think they're probably supposed to fit to term but in my case there was no chance! Dorothy Perkins was ok, but standard length is too short for me and long is too long, so never really felt comfortable. Have a look on ebay for H&M XL in maternity and you can get some real bargains. I bought a cardigan for 89p last week!

pumpkin patch was my fav.

I'm listing some size 16/18 stuff on for sale board over the weekend.

colditz · 12/05/2006 22:28

Try eacocks next sixe up. also H&M do nice stuff, better if you are tall.

WinkyGirl · 13/05/2006 13:15

Im an 18 too and I found Next to be very useful, especially trousers and jeans. I also picked up some nice tops in Mamas and Papas and Blooming Marvellous.

Happy shopping!

sunnyside there are always good isabella oliveer pieces on ebay

sunnyside · 13/05/2006 20:24

elizabuff you sound exactly the same size as me! I always have the standard/long issue, I feel long are too long to wear with flatties but I look like they're at half mast if I buy standard. And like you did, I just feel huge at the mo., fat not preggers. I'm after something that I feel smartish in cos most places seem to have jeans, black trews or combats....I suppose I'm just being too choosy and a pain in the arse!

PPhead- Thanks for the tip about Isabella Oliver on ebay. I really like the look of her stuff but it is a bit pricey.

Can't wait to stop feeling like a flump, I'm reasonably tall so last pregnancy at size 12/14 was easy to find stuff but not so this time round. Anyway I'll let you know when I've found the perfect thing!

Thanks for helping.

Debenhams do nice maternity stuff up to at least a 20

lexiemum · 13/05/2006 20:33

not all debs though - Reading store removed their range last winter (04/05) - just when I started looking again.
