Cervical length increased after stitch?

Does anyone have any experience of this?

I had a stitch put in at 15 weeks after a premature labour with my last pregnancy. My cervix at that point was 2.5cm, so a wee bit borderline and my consultant advised us that going ahead pre-emptitively would be a good call. Two weeks later I was measured again and was 3cm. So, roughly the same.

Have had another measurment scan at 20 weeks and my cervix is up to 6.5cm? The sonographer was a wee bit surprised and wrote it down, but didn't really make a big deal about it, and I didn't see the consultant that day.

Is this normal? I am freaking out a bit.

Really sorry I can't help rainbow but I just wondered if you needed a stitch after a lletz? Is that why?

Hi Alexandra, nope, no Lletz here. My first baby was born spontaniously at 24 weeks last year with no warning or symptoms beforehand at all. I was diagnosed with a probable incompetant cervix afterwards, but they are really not sure what caused my labour. A cervix problem just seems to be the most likely. I am being closely monitored this time round, and the consultant felt it would be a good idea to go ahead with a stitch after my 14 week measurment and I trusted her! Is it something you are worried about?
