Breast pump causing blisters

Hi ladies, probably not the correct place to post but...

Do anyone know what to do with blisters on nipples caused by the breast pump?

Oh no poor you! Lots of Lansinoh for the nipples and look into getting a different breast pump. Not all pumps suit all people, so you might get on better with a different one.

Sounds like the pump action is too hard/strong. As rrreow suggested lansinoh and if you can't alter the strength of the pump action; consider changing pumps.
Have you had any luck expressing by hand?

BelleEtLaBaby · 22/03/2013 18:21

Lots of lansinoh/nip cream on before you pump. I used to smear a bit inside the pump - I found I got more milk this way and no blisters. Just the nip/areola though or you might find your pump can't make a vacuum. You can also get cushion/pillow things that go in the cup but I hated them so chucked them away.

I had a graze from mine, a few days of lanisoh sorted it, and gentle pumping on that boob

Second the flanges theory (I had a similar issue with DS2) x

Thanks ladies. Spoke to the midwife in the hospital tonight, she suggested a larger pump sheild. Will put on lots if cream. Baby is 5 days old, and 7 weeks early so is still in scu. X
