repeat urine test at 11 weeks, gestational diabetes?

I've just got a letter from doctors asking me to repeat the booking appointment urine test, but not saying why.

From some anxious googling, the most likely cause seems to be raised sugar levels and possible gestational diabetes. Am I right?

I've been excessively tired so far - to the point where yesterday, for example, I'd have failed the £100 note test (would you get out of bed to pick up the £100 note left on the floor) - have had a day like this most weeks. Far worse than last pregnancy. I also have type 2 diabetes in the family, although admittedly at grandparent level. Oh, and I am a sugar-addict (cake, choc, fruit). And I think I have piled on the pounds so far this pregnancy (though did in first trimester last time and it evened out later on). Prev baby was 8lb5, so biggish but not giant (she has remained tall for her age).

Am I panicking unnecessarily? Any advice? Anyone had a similar experience?

Thanks...

Perhaps they simply lost your sample?

Call the drs and ask them why.

I would call and ask them why. It could be really nothing serious. Like they lost the sample (has happened to me at the docs countless times!), or a borderline UTI reading and they want to send off for full test. I would call and put your mind at ease. You have a right to know. Very cruel of them to send such a cryptic letter!

I had to repeat mine to but they told me the reason why - was borderline for an infection of some sort. The repeat came back fine.

Thanks, that's reassuring. I took a new sample straight in, and might ring and ask for clarification later...(calmed down a bit now...!)

And anyway, thy took bloods also so if there was any worries about GD you'd have been contated about the bloods too (had this happen too at my booking bloods had to have a GTT at 11 weeks, was all fine)
