Have 'liked' your Facebook page and signed/shared the epetition. My homebirth with ds2 was with an NHS midwife and all being well, will be the same again, however if I had the money I would have loved an independent midwife and certainly think we deserve to have the choice!

I've just signed your petition and emailed a few friends asking them to do the same. Sorry my guess on prices was so far out! I would have loved to have an independent midwife but couldn't afford it, in the end I had a wonderful doula and nhs mw. I totally agree with looneytune that women should always have the choice.

Wow, I had no idea independent midwives were due to be outlawed! Given the current government are keen on privatising he NHS, this makes no sense? There will certainly be a rise in unassisted births if this is the case. I will definitely sign and share the petition. Good luck midwife VH I really enjoyed the programme and am looking forward to my own home birth this summer.

I'm currently under an independent midwifery service, but funded by the NHS, I believe it's a pilot scheme. I've had the same midwife all the way through, and they have very high home birth rates. They are generally quite challenging of the medical model and the service is very different to what i received under bog standard nhs care with my first child. I couldn't rate the service I've received so far more highly. Does anyone know if there are plans to extend this service round the country?
