Kidney Stones

Has anyone experienced these in pregnancy? I've got a scan booked tomorrow to confirm my GP's diagnosis. I've not had them before but the pain seems to have gotten worse over the past few days. Would baby getting bigger have an effect I.e make it worse? (I'm 32+4). Also did you just have to grin and bear it, or was there something they could do? I can't cope with another 6-7 weeks of this pain :(

I had them from 12 weeks. Had an operation to have them removed at about 15 weeks. Because I couldn't have any xrays the surgeon couldn't see exactly where they were so I ended up having a stent in to make the tube from my kidney wider in the hope they would come out on their own. They didn't so I ended up having to have them blasted after birth.

It was extremely painful at first and ended up having a lot of gas & air and morphine but was better once the stents were in. It did mean I was effectively on maternity leave from 12 weeks as I was in too much pain to return to work Hmm

All sorted now though Grin

I didn't have kidney stones but my baby basically squeezed my ureters and I had UTIs (bad UTIs needing IV in hospital) as a result from this.

I had a chat with urologist about getting a stent, but they try to avoid it in pregnant women, because they can't use the normal imaging techniques to aid placement and theoretically make things worse.
