dc3, what was your labour like? and when did baby arrive

I'm having my 3rd baby (3rd boy) my first was 2 weeks over and induced and my second was 5 days over (spontaneous) I did go into labour on my due date though but as he was back to back and not in a good position, it took along time to get there. So my question to 3rd time mummys is:

Was labour with your 3rds easier and quicker?

And

And was they earlier or later then previous babys?

Both my births havnt been great, and I've heard 3rds are supposed to be worse, so I'm scared lol

Aww no, I have group b strep too so having anti biotics. But have to have cannular anyway due to problems I had when having ds1. This ones Defo my last too lol

Dd1 was 2 weeks over and induced,

Dd2 was 2 weeks early and spontaneous.

Ds1 was 3 days over, spontaneous and a very simple easy 4 hour labour from start to finish :)

Dc1 15 days late, induced, 11 hour labour.
Dc2 4 days late, spontaneous 6 hour labour.
Dc3 1 week late, but about 5 days of pre-labour stopping and starting contractions. Had sweep on 7th day overdue, midwife said I was 3 cms. Great. Contractions got more regular over the day, went to hospital to be sent home as they said only 2-3cms. Annoying. Didn't go home, but walked in hospital grounds, went back after 2 hours, was examined as 6cms. Marvellous. Got in pool, baby arrived after further 2 hours.
So, Dc3 labour was a bit of a ballache in the run up, especially as I had to consider childcare for older two when it kept stopping and starting. However, once it got going, it felt like a lot of the hard work had been done and the final stages were quick and reasonably manageable.

DS1 10 days late and spontaneous. DS2 a couple of days early and huge spontaneous. DD induced at 42 weeks and quick way birth. A breeze compared to the other two. Really.

way easy

DS 7 days late, long labour.

DD1 7 days late, 12 hour labour.

DD2 7 days late, 6 hour labour.

None were induced and each got easier, DD2 was far easier than the first 2. Good luck :)

I was never tested with my previous 2 it was just found this time as I had swabs in epu cause I was bleeding. I was the same, my first son was only a 4hr labour, but had a bad time after. so I just presumed that my second was going to be same and shorter lol, 5 days after he arrived. and I really had thought it would have been a walk in park. So this time I'm trying to be prepared, no idea what to expect, cause they have both been so different.
Wow your second birth sounds unreal, bet it was a big shock to be done that fast

Also have 3 boys, so congrats on your 3rd.

DS1: 5 days early, 21 hour labour, epidural, 2 hour second stage, then forceps delivery.

DS2: 5 days late, 12 hour labour, gas & air only, 20 minutes second stage.

DS3: 5 days early, planned home birth, 5 hour labour, gas & air only & 5 minute second stage. Also much bigger baby.

So they got progressively quicker & easier.

1 - 2 weeks early, 5 hrs, 8 lb 1
2 - 3 weeks early 1 hr 50 mins (surprise home birth= no midwives) 8 lb 9
3 - 3 days late and 25 minutes, planned home birth (but no midwife made it for the birth) 9 lb 8
Had a couple of sweeps with DC3 as hubby due to go away not long after the birth and everybody (midwives, Drs, DH and me) though I'd be early again! No such luck!

We joke if there is a DC4 (which we're not planning) it'll weigh 10lb and be out in 10 minutes!

Lots of people told me that the 3rd birth was more painful etc... take what you are told with a pinch of salt!

DC1 - induced 2 weeks early due to p/e.

DC2 - spontaneous, 1 week late.

DC3 - induced, 2 weeks late

All 3 labours under 3 hours with no pain relief. No interventions required in the induced births, mobile monitoring so wasnt bed bound!

Birth of DC 3 was actually my favourite - relaxed, minimal discomfort, just a lovely experience

I'm worried as to the size of the Lo, my last 2 was quite abit in size difference so this time I'm thinking this ones going to be increasing alot too. Ds1 was over by 2wk and was 6ib 8. Ds2 was born 9 days before ds1's gestation and was 9ib but he got stuck for 2hours and ended up with assisted delivery, I'm only really small framed, so I'm panicking this ones going to be huge Haha I'm a massive worrier, can't you just tell :)

Ist - 3days over - 28 hours back to back, 2 hour + second stage, small tear 7lb 6oz
2nd- 5 days over -6 3/4 hours 12 minute second stage small tear 8lb 4oz
3rd - 6 days over - took 20 raspberry leaf tablets in the morning (I was very fed up and it was very hot) waters broke at 3.15 in the afternoon, contractions started at 8.15 in the evening born at 11.15 that night, 2 minute second stage, no tear 8lb 3 1/2 oz.

I keep hearing this too Beckie about nightmare third births, even the MW in my OBEM book wrote it!

I had a large second child (9 lb) and thought DC3 would be enormous, especially as she was 2 weeks late. She was a (relatively) teeny 7 lb 6.

Dd - 2week latent labour. 12 hr active labour. 25 min second stage. 6lb 14 small tear and stitches
Ds1 - 2 week latent labour. 10 hr active labour. 15 min second stage. 7lb no tear
Ds2 - no latent labour. 3hr active labour. 10 min second stage. 7lb 7oz no tear

dd - 5 days late, 12 hour labour, G&A, 30 stitches and left me in a mess 7lb11oz
ds1 - 3 days late 2.5 hr labour at home and only 2 stitches 9lb 5oz
ds2 - born on due date 6.5 hour labour at home, all going ok till he turned back to back when my waters broke at 8cm and it really slowed my contractions (and made them more painful!) 7lb 13oz

All on gas and air only, well ds1 I had pethidine but started pushing 5 minutes later and it kicked in during the third stage! Lol

Quicker and shorter.

DD1, 1 week over, induced, officially 15h I think, 4h second stage!
DD2, 3 days over, spontaneous, 8 hours from first contraction, 40 mins second stage
DS, 4 weeks early, waters broke naturally then induced because no sign of contractions, 2.5 h labour, 10 min from being 5cm to birth.

I suspect the reputation of third births being worse is partly because most people have an easier second than first birth and then the third birth is no 'better' (and maybe worse because they are older) and so psychologiclly seems worse.

louisiana yea thats what I thought. Hopefully mine will seem easier then with my second been quite long and hard. Thankyou x
