I know I prob shouldn't post in here but just wondered something and I think I would get a better response here than on the conception thread. We've been trying for a baby for 5 long years with one failed ivf behind us. I just keep thinking this is a long time and perhaps its time to just give up altogether and face a life without children.
I just need to hear if there is anyone on here that has tried for as long as I have and finally got your BFP. I just feel like a need some hope today and want your happy stories :)

My very good friend has got twin girls after nearly 8yrs and 2 failed ivf attempts, took me 2yrs and a couple of rounds of clomid, another friend is ready to try for her 2nd baby after having her 1st after too many miscarriages and ivf. There's always hope!!

A friend at work tried for 8 years and had lots of problems along the way. Three years after giving up she conceived naturally. She didn't find out she was pregnant until she was two months from having baby. It's a bit hard to believe she didn't realise but she is a beautiful voluptuous lady and had a very irregular cycle and hadn't had any symptoms other than putting on weight. Ironically she thought she was going through the menopause. She is now the very happy mummy of a two year old little boy.

No useful words, but sending you a big hug nonetheless. I had a mmc last year, was truly devastated, and now pregnant with twins, so good things can happen..

Had a friend who had IVF treatments between the ages of 30 and 37. She got pregnant at 38 and now has a beautiful seven year old.

Shameless bump...in a similar boat to blondebaby and having a bad day today so could also use some positive stories.

PandaWatch · 19/03/2013 20:55

I have friends who had an unplanned pregnancy then when they tried for another it took them over four years with no apparent reason. But they finally got their second dc!

Good luck OP!

These stories do give me hope, I know people who have tried for a few years but never as long as me and I see the look on peoples faces when they ask how long, its almost like I can read their mind and there thinking oh dear!!

I have no idea at all if this helps you - I want to give you a big virtual hug though. I will tell you my story in case it is of some use!!! But I had really irregular periods and in Germany they put you on a kind of herbal clomid I guess- called chasteberry- works if you are irregular like I was. The other issue I had was an undetected issue called hasimotos (auto immune disease) - which left me having an early mc, and infertile. The normal tests on my thyroid missed it - they have to test for your TPO levels. Without knowing what your history is I have no clue if this is relevant - but I had been to harley street and all of this went undetected until I moved to Germany, where my gyn here sorted this within a few months. I have no idea how long this would have gone on if I had stayed in the UK, I sometimes wonder about it- so just be sure you make sure you get everything checked, if you haven't already - I am sure you have - but I thought I had - and look into things like chaste berry, which was a lifesaver for my irregular cycle, which kick started ovulating properly and my mood levels too.

I have a friend that had some success after trying for ages and ages, and failed IVF with acupuncture and then fell pregnant and now has a baby. I have no idea if the acupuncture was the source, but she felt it helped. There is a link between failed IVF and then conceiving naturally - I do not know the exact science I am afraid, something a doctor told me once. Maybe google? Never give up hope though - you just have to keep on hoping. I will also say this - we decided to stop trying last november, and get through xmas and new year, and I could have a few drinks and let my hair down, and then we fell pregnant - we were honestly not trying as I just wanted a break from the cycle of hope and bleeding and tears every month. So you just never know. Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks

My dad loves to tell the story of an old friend of his who was told she was infertile. She started getting these weird feelings in her stomach & became convinced she had some kind of parasite but was terrified so didn't go to the doctor. One day she developed intense pain in her belly & went to the hospital thinking she was dying... Her 'parasite' was born a few hours later! Grin

Hope it happens for you soon OP! Flowers
