Second pregnancy - less symptoms??

Anyone else had this?? I'm getting worried. I've had a mmc previously. I'd like some nice 'I had less sickness/symptoms and I went on to have a lovely baby such and such' stories please!!
I am still bfeeding dd1 - do you think this would make a difference?

My symptoms are less this time round. Try not to worry.

It may be because the first time round we just have more time to obsessively focus on ourselves whereas you don't nearly so much when you're chasing after a toddler... We just have to get on with it Smile

Not onto DC2 just yet, but other than the 3 pregnancy tests, I could easily not have known I was pregnant up until about 30 weeks! I had barely any symptoms and just looked fat up until then! DS was incredibly lazy and so even kicks were few and far between! It may well just be a completely different pregnancy. Easier said than done, but don't worry. DS is a robust 3 monther now and one smart cookie. Grin

My second viable pregnancy I didn't have any symptoms whatsoever, apart from a missed period and slight tiredness.

I'd say different. Definitely less tiredness and sickness for me this time but probably more twinges and pains early on. Oh and I am plagued by a metallic taste in my mouth this time - yuk.

I second that Facebook.
After such a terrible first pg the second was a doddle. No symptoms what so ever. Hes a healthy strapping 17 year old now Grin.

I've had two pregnancies and I was terribly sick for the first trimester in both of them - but when I had the mmc the symptoms started to tail off. I feel much more reassured with my head down a toilet Grin

Unfortunately until I get the 12 week scan it will all be a guessing game. Though I've got really bad heartburn this time.

Oooo maybe it's different because its a boy!

Same as puffpants, queasy a lot more at night though wheras with DS was throwing up A LOT all day! Yucky taste in mouth all the time now though and lots of painful twinges especially in the evening but that may be as DS is in bed and I have time to notice it. Try Rennies for the heart burn, they were a lifesaver for me last time and second the 'keen for 12 week scan' though havn't been able to book to see mw yet and am 7 weeks. I know she will tell me off for leaving it late!

I've been in early pregnancy four times- two viable pregnancies resulted. I felt totally different each time in terms of the nature and extent of any symptoms but there appeared to be no correlation between how bad I felt and the pregnancy's success. I think after any MC you are bound to feel this way. I am 36 weeks now with second viable pg and sorry to say I am still paranoid! Paranoid but pregnant Smile

OP can you ask for an early scan or self-refer to an EPU?
I've had 2 MMCs, both 8 weeks, so on 3rd pregnancy I pushed my GP for an early scan. That was reasuring and stopped reduced my stressing for a month or so.

I've just had a BFP, and no symptoms atm. When I eventually (mutter) see the GP I'll be asking again for an early scan.

Possibly. I have a bicornuate uterus so am automatically classed as high risk - however I've had really bad experiences in the past from an early scan.

With my first pregnancy I paid for my own early scan at 8 weeks which showed a twin pregnancy - no heartbeats, measuring 6 weeks. They were unable to refer me so I had to talk to the gp about the scan myself. He moaned at me for having the scan in the first place, asked if I'd had any bleeding, and then told me I had to wait another 6 weeks for my 12 week scan as he believed it was too early to detect a heartbeat anyway.
It was over Christmas and the worst 6 weeks of my life. When the hospital discovered what he's done they pleaded with me to complain, but I just wanted done with it.
It will almost certainly be the same doctor - as he is the paediatric specialist (!) at our surgery. I suspect the chances of that bastard my doctor giving me an early scan are quite slim.

My second pregnancy has been totally different. I'm still enjoying being pregnant, but as I'm carrying a different sex, I have noticed marked differences. Don't know if scientifically its proven to be different. I guess from reading this thread, every pregnancy is different. I love the moment when the baby first starts kicking, and gradually gets stronger. Such special moments, and almost always makes me smile. I talk to my bump, and am looking forward so much to giving birth, but then missing being pregnant again lol. I know I missed being pregnant when i gave birth the first time.

One thing that hasn't changed is the amount of people that want to tell you their horror stories. I had a very easy first birth, and am hoping for the same this time round. People are astounded that I am not having any drugs, and express this. I'm looking forward to my water birth, relaxed, painful probably yes, but still looking forward to it all the same.

Nice to be on a thread with other 2nd timers lol

I had a good birth with dd1 too (this is officially my 3rd pregnancy... even though I titled the thread 2nd pregnancy).
Really actually quite enjoyed the experience Grin

Doh! that's both appalling and bizzarre. And I 'spose any other Dr at the surgery would just point you back towards the paediatric guy?
Would he take an NHS scan more seriously than a private one?
I've seen a heartbeat at 6 weeks so it is possible, although maybe not reliable.

Hello! I 'feel' pg for the 3rd time. Second successful. My LO is 16months and we had been trying for a second although more just not being careful as it was difficult last time. I took a test on Wed which came back negative. Nothing has happened since that test but I need the loo loads, have a weak bladder Blush and my hips have started aching. I'm now feeling I am pg, but am too scared to take a second test in case it is negative again. Thanks for reading, just needed to say it I think as my husband is no help! Grin

I had awful nausea and tiredness and sore boobs with first two pregnancies which I lost in early stages.
Dd1 was m third pregnancy and had quite a few symptoms but not as bad as the first two. Had sore boobs and nausea from the start and terrible tiredness.
Dd2 I just had tiredness and a little nausea which then disappeared around 4.5 weeks so I was sure I was going to lose her. My symptoms didn't kick in with her until 8 weeks when I then felt sick as a dog and boobs were agony.
I wonder if your body becomes less snsitive to the hormones maybe with each one. X

I'm 7 weeks with second and no sickness/ exhaustion etc so far. I remember first time round feeling awful in the first tri- unless that all happens a bit later on ?? Wish I'd kept a pregnancy diary from
the first time around as I remember what happened but not when it happened.

In my 1st pregnancy I had terrible all day morning sickness from day 10 which alleviated at 4 1/2 months. I had 12 days when I felt fantastic then the heart burn set in and I also slipped 2 discs which went undiscovered for the following 5 1/2 years, (RNOH never looked at my back they just kept saying I needed a new hip).

2nd one left me totally incapacitated. I had terrible debilitating nausea but could not throw up. I was completely knackered all of the time and felt ill and I couldn't think straight. If I could have crawled under a rock I would have done.

I'm 15 weeks with no.2 and don't feel pregnant at all. No sickness, no tiredness, no sore boobs... nothing but a lovely scan picture and a mini bump!

i just came into this group by looking up my lack of symptoms in my second pg im very relieved to see that its not just me, ive had 3 positive pg tests but no symptoms aside from tiredness and havent been to an appointment yet. hope this helps make me less paranoid lol

I'm around 5 weeks now with very few symptoms and I'm panicking! I had a loss at 33 weeks in June, so I think I'm over analysing everything
